Lampard lost 23 out of 84 in his first spell, then 8 out of 11 after Potter. His first spell was during the Abramovic regime, so his 4th place finish and FA cup runner up were pretty mediocre for the club at the time. They won the Europa League the season before he came and the Champions League the season he got sacked.

To be fair he has done a very good job at Coventry in the Championship. Taking over a club in 17th in late November and leading them to 5th is great, very similar to what Carrick did at Boro when he started, although he didn't progress from there at all. 

He did well at Derby to get the job...

He was a complete novice at Chelsea and his first season was decent for a new manager, he then didn't get the signings he wanted (Rice being the main one) but the ones the club wanted and it went wrong from there.

He was shit at Everton 

Doing well at Coventry, he's not second rate. 

Not saying I want him, but he's doing well as a young manager.

I think it has to be someone who has in the past had success but is clearly not wanted by any other club for pretty obvious reasons. Sullivan likes a sort of “fixer upper”, I feel like he wants to say I saw the potential when others didn’t. And it has to be a yes man. Someone that will never embarrass him. Frank Jr may have been one of us once, but he is no longer and will be a Chelsea fan. 

I could well imagine some of us could put water under the bridge, but he’s not the answer to our issues, not least because he’d have to manage a circus above him, and I don’t believe he’d be cutout to manage the team. If we struggled in the way the team are now, the vitriol towards Frank would be significant.

If Mourinho was a player, Sullivan would be all over this.

Past it, been there and done it, living on previous glories. Potential to get fans off their seats and engaged again.  Big name still in football, who will generate extra interest in the club.

This gives me a very slim hope that it may actually happen.
