"Interesting link provided by Whetstone about the Shrewsbury player who previously got banned for 12 years for fixing a yellow card bet (Kynan Isaac): https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwjbvafuma SGAxWkUUEAHZB8BQYQFnoECBUQAQ&url= https%3A%2F%2F www.thefa.com%2F-%2Fmedia%2Ffiles%2Fthefaportal%2F governance-docs%2Fdiscipline-cases%2F2022%2Fthe-fa-v-kynan-isaac---11-october-2022. ashx&usg=AOvVaw0yKM_8K-dUbl6c4NzooJbd&opi=89978449 It's long but worth a read, but the FA made a strong case. The individuals implicated clearly all knew each other (WhatsApp Group) had discussed the idea of a yellow card bet on the player, and then their betting patterns were out of keeping with previous bets. The player clearly was shown to have lied when interviewed about circumstances he claims exonerated him too. If the evidence was this strong against Paqueta, no one would have any complaints about the boom being thrown at him."

"There may be a bit of over excitement on Earthy, but the senior pro’s at the club, and specifically Paqueta, wax lyrical about him, and these are the people that see him train day in day out, so I think we should allow ourselves to be excited about a local lad coming through the academy who might have the potential to be the real deal."

Online betting in Brazil was actually illegal when those bets were struck New legislation which gave the green light for restrictions to be lifted was only passed at the end of last year. It's a complex situation as Betway were still granted a gambling licence although online betting was still prohibited and in theory those placing bets are open to prosecution. Enforcement action could also (under the law) to restrict or close down access to the site It could well be argued that Betway were in breach of the law by allowing these bets to be placed and even allowing the accounts to be opened in the first place Having paid a £4.4 licence fee to operate I guess Betway were never going to turn away revenue. .

"Boots - Do you not think you are getting a bit carried away with Earthy after playing just 20 mins so far? Yes, he may be ready, and good enough, but realistically as a regular starter I think it's a bit premature, besides I assume Paqueta can still play until a decision? I wouldn't mind us going for Gibbs-White, but realistically that won't happen."

"Of course Paqueta hasn’t been shocking. What has been shocking, but in no way surprising, is the abuse and now victimisation he has come in for simply because he is a flair player at little ol’ West Ham. Fucking get your act together and stop mindlessly repeating the bullshit just because it’s your “culture”. You wanker."

"Surely this isn't a great problem for us, we just replace him with Earthy. We cut our cloth accordingly in the transfer window, other teams know we don't have the 85 million from the Paq sale so we should be able to get better deals done. Let's face it Paqueta has been shocking these last few weeks so he will be no great loss"

"Alf - You're posing questions that nobody has a clue about, as I said earlier in the thread it's just a waste of time even trying to guess, none of us have a clue what went on, if anything, the why's and wherefores, etc. We seriously could have done without this and it's going to drag on and on most probably. Feel a bit sorry for Lopie just coming in and facing this shit storm."

Question in my tiny bonce is what was his motivation? Dont know the size of the bets but it would have to be a lot for him to be betting via family or friend to be worth it based in what he earns? If its to help mates or family out why would he risk it? He doesnt strike me as completely dense but trying to help out a bunch of people on his home island where its obvious to detect is definitely a stupid thing to do. Another theory is that the FA have charge him to avoid being sued and get the case over to an independent body? He had already got his lawyers on it?

I understand we are planning for all scenarios but the realistic one is that we won’t have the player or the £85m we were hoping to get off Man City. Probably cuts our transfer budget in half but have confidence we can find some talent with the coach & Steidten of one mind Unlike trying to buy Maguire & Kalvin Phillips at the insistence of the previous bloke

"Athletic on Alans Friday News does a description of each tackle and describes the run up. Described Paqueta repeatedly going in hard until he gets the card. Moyes took him of in some games fearing Paqueta would be sent off. Implies he was repeatedly try to get the card. But he does that a lot, you can see him getting wound up. I would like to know exactly what the bets were, the frequency of those kind of bets from people in Paqueta island and how often they win. I am really not at all convinced by all of this. FA seem convinced though. What a mess."

"This pointless bollocks again... If that's the best they've got on him, it's fuckijg laughable. However if they have messages confirming what they accuse him of, then he is fucked. I'm just trying to figure out whether I don't mind it or not, because with this happening last summer, it meant we could enjoy his magic some more, until the player killer eventually snuffed his ability out the longer the season went on."

Mashed in Maryland I remember the Kitson one well Le Tissier did a similar thing It was all treated as a bit of a laugh in those days and there wasn't the audit trails of online betting accounts. It was when the floodlights started going out that things started getting serious.

I remember when John Moncur kicked the ball out for a throw in with his first kick of the ball.

doesn't look enough on just the clips. FA must have some other evidence or it's pointless charging him

"Nothing obvious there, it's not like he kicked the ball away or time wasted, he was making attempts to get the ball"

"Doesn't look obvious enough to prove anything on the incidents alone. If they've got messages or something he's double fucked but otherwise I can see him getting fined/short ban for not cooperating. But if they have actual evidence he's a goner, book will be thrown. The club would have to sue him wouldn't they?"

"Maybe clutching at straws but hopefully we can get a decent season out of him whilst this all drags on? If anything if he starts playing at his best the Brazilian national team will be backing his innocent even more and even FIFI will not want to see one of the best players banned, not good for the games image etc and we all know what they are like in protecting the income stream…….."
