The Championship
Very much a 3-horse race for the 2 automatic promotion spots between Burnley, Leeds and Sheffield United, one teams fans are going to be gutted they don't make it especially seeing how far ahead of the pack all 3 are, but at least they will have the play off opportunity and would imagine be hot favorites to go up that way.
Sunderland look nailed on for 4th, then a decent gap to 4 teams vying for 5th and 6th currently Middlesbrough and Bristol City, but these positions change weekly, WBA and Coventry held them last weekend!
Leeds and Burnley to get the Automatic promotion, would love to see Bristol City get the play off place but realistically its going to be Sunderland or Sheffield United.
Mind you whomever comes up is almost nailed on to go back down such is the gap between the 2 divisions now, will need a PL team to really turn to shit to see any change IMO, then expect the likes of Leicester, Southampton and Ipswich to be near or at the top of the Championship and coming back up to replace the 3 new boys from 2025 in 2026!

Gerat City Bristol. It's population is almost the size of Liverpool so you;'d expect them to have a top team. I hope they go though exceopt for I have some friends from Coventry as well. I hope either get through.

Re: The Championship
Looks like Sheffield Utd are all but into the play off final
beat Bristol City 3-0 away, pretty even game until BC went down to 10 men just before HT and Utd got a penalty from the bad tackle to make it 1-0, shame for George Earthy as well.

Re: The Championship
Late 70’s I think that Bristol City were briefly in Div 1
For the size of the city they really should have had a Premier league team since then
To be honest having watched them against Leeds reckon they are 4th favourites & Sunderland have lost their last 5
Sheff Utd v Coventry would be my guess for the final

What's the most likely chance of us ever playing Millwall again. Them coming up or us going down . . . . It's a shame as it would liven things up a bit at the bowl. I miss their shit.
If they ever get promoted, you can bet your bottom dollar that it would be the same season we get relegated then miss them again swapping the following season.

Re: The Championship
I'd like Bristol to come up as well. My daughter will start Uni there next year, so Bristol v West Ham would be a good excuse to visit her!

Re: The Championship
Leeds champions on GD but both them and Burnley finish on 100 points
Would imagine 3rd placed Sheffield United will be very short priced favourites to go up via the play offs, finished 14 points ahead of Sunderland in 4th and 22 points ahead of Bristol City who they face to reach the play off a game.
See Luton drop out of the championship after only 1 season since they departed the PL

Re: The Championship
Always had a soft spot for Sunderland and Coventry (annoying it would be Lampard to do it but still)
Also think Bristol City would be good as a different Club who's well supported.
Sheffield United can get fucked.

Re: The Championship
Wobbling Sheff Utd v Bristol City who were smashed at Leeds & couldn’t beat Preston
Sunderland on the back of 5 defeats v Coventry
You’d have to say Fat Franks Coventry go into the playoffs with the momentum

On May 11th 2024, I was watching Luton play at our place in the Premier league. On May 3rd 2025 they slip into league one. That is quite a fall inside a full calendar year.

Re: The Championship
Burnley are also going for the all - time English record of clean sheets ; they are currently on 30, and a final one today would be the outright record of 31

Re: The Championship
In the Championship Cardiff are relegated & Plymouth (46 pts GD minus 36) would need a win & a 15 goal turnaround so are gone too
For the last place:
Hull 48pts GD minus 10 (Portsmouth a)
Luton 49 minus 22 (WBA a)
Preston 49 minus 11 (Bristol City a)
Derby 49 minus 8 (Stoke h)
Stoke 50 minus 17 (Derby a)

Re: The Championship
Between Reading and Orient for the final play off place in league 1,Reading need to better the O's result to nick it. Bit torn on that on, being an Eastender I've got a soft spot for Orient but I now live in Berkshire and have good mates who go home and away every week with Reading. Delighted for Wrexham getting promoted to the championship after nearly going out of existence a few years ago.

Re: The Championship
Last round of fixtures and with some interesting ties!
Sheffield United have 89 points and clinched 3rd but have Blackburn (65 points) at home who must win to have a hope of getting 5th or 6th.
Sunderland have 76 points and have clinched 4th and have QPR at home, who are mid table so result doesn't really matter to either!
Bristol City are 5th on 67 points and have Preston at home, BC need to win to guarantee they stay 5th, a draw or loss sees them sweating on other results.
Coventry are 6th on 66 points and host Middlesborough (64 points), a draw won't be enough for Boro and maybe not enough for Coventry either depending on other results but you would think the winner if we get will get a play-off spot so this game is maybe the pick to watch.
Millwall, are 7th also on 66 points but have a big ask away to Burnley who will be chasing the title, could be good watch as well though! the Wall really need to win but with GD against them unless they put a bucket load past Burnley it still may not be enough!
Blackburn are 8th on 65 points, as said above they MUST win to have a chance of play offs
Middlesborough are 9th on 64 points and again as above MUST win to have a chance of a play-off place.
Personally, im going say, no change to positions with both Bristol City and Coventry getting the win, so even if the Wall win, GD will see them miss out
