This place definitely is DEAD these days

On a thread about what has become wrong with this website, literally a couple of back and forths in true traditional WHO style and what it's always been known for, and it gets locked. Like the Jota thread, it's the only thread that's getting any proper traction.
I'm beginning to think Manuel had the right idea. This place is being turned into KUMB.

On the subject of the new site being dead already, I do reckon that the godawful nature of the football we've been subjected to recently hasn't helped at all. Bad timing really. I'm sure most of us were feeling really optimistic last summer and we ended up with worse results and even duller football than before. It's too depressingly dreary to bother discussing in any depth, and talking about it is mainly gonna be expressing anger and frustration, so it's no wonder that the shitposts take up more space than they would otherwise.

Gotta laugh at all these self righteous posters who think they’re the interesting ones.
If you think your 6 month back and forth on the politics thread, and constant spamming of twitter posts because you cant think of a lucid argument yourself are even approaching interesting then you belong on some sort of ward. You're too oblivious to realise you bored everyone barr Goose off that thread months ago
Says the most boring poster on WHO.
Funny how you continue to follow me around.
You self righteous bore!
I will say that at least you are self aware, you knew I was laughing at and referring to you in my initial post.
All you do is whine like a little bitch!

We need Tynan and Ged back as mods and in Tynan's case you will need to pay him in VESTS.

I'll be leaving shortly (this week I hope) but haven't got around to writing my obitiury yet. Bloody busy at work. Main reason as coma says lack of humour. Polically is become far too racist, homophobic, islamophobic and right wing. I would be surprised if it doesn't get closed down anyway. The Mods are pathetic at monitoring it and taking action.
"The Mods". Which mods? We don't have any frankly. As of now if a post gets flagged we review it and look to deal with it. The community are the 'eyes and ears' and the site owners will attempt to be the decision makers....in the absence of a 'Team' of Mods, that's the best we can do currently.
We do have some aspirations to 'clean it up a little' though...not the topics of discussion, but some of the individual comments that are a bit more 'ugly'.
Essentially debate what you like, but do it somewhat respectfully (we also have certain laws and regulations we should be working to stick within...whether we like it or not as a site we can't be trailblazers to change or push back against the law itself, and have advertising revenue that keeps it open that can't afford to be lost in account of certain content).
You'll be unsurprised to know we've not been inundated with offers to help on that moderation front though.
I'm currently looking into if I can develop some kind of ChatGPT supported Auto-mod to flag suspect posts for moderation using sentiment analysis, but that's not a remotely quick solution to deliver and could take months if I can get it working.
Hopefully Swiss you'll stick around to see some of these improvements (and hopefully they will be improvements). All we can do is try though.

I find it weird that people complain about the demise of the site not because there is little evidence in those stats, but because if you are referring to the content then whose fault is it? Not mine, my posts are laugh a minute.
It's always the same ones, so I wouldn't bother too much about it.

Being a stats bore I can shed some light on how true the title of this thread is.
The site saw consistent increases in both the number of posts and the amount of posters for five consecutive months after the relaunch with the average number of posts per day nearly doubling over that time. Then February and March this year we saw a big drop off. Its since recovered significantly from the March low but it's off season so I wouldn't expect that continue. The amount of people reading the site (page views) has been fairly consistent with slight climb over the year so far. So it's not dead yet; it's taken some Mounjaro and feeling good about itself again.
I find it weird that people complain about the demise of the site not because there is little evidence in those stats, but because if you are referring to the content then whose fault is it? Not mine, my posts are laugh a minute.

Have you, and comma, ever thought about being more tolerant to other people's opinions, Swiss?
It might make you both less hateful?

This place will never regain what it was once popular for. Back in it's heyday it had no social media to oppose it.
Once Twitter & Facebook took hold, the world and it's brother took flight from here. I suspect virtually every other single issue chat site underwent similar changes.

This Board is showing all the signs of an organisation coming to the end of its life cycle. A process that most things go through.
Apart from the endless bickering ( btw I have made bickerers my foes ) where posters seem to lack the strength of character to not have the last word tho other noticeable thing, to us long termers on here, is that compared to the past there is a near total lack of humour. And we will never get that back because sadly genuine, non judgemental humour, seems to be disappearing from society.
How many foes do you have, comma?

Probably just as well you petals weren't on here in the early noughties. If you think the running feuds and abuse are bad now, it's laughable. Back in 2003-ish, we literally had a poster contact another poster's employer in a deadly serious attempt to get him sacked. It's just a bit of verbal handbags now. I hate to say 'If you find yourself offended, piss off to KUMB', but if you find yourself offended, you could always piss off to KUMB.
Very true but it was never boring and repetitive, perhaps there's a few with dementia on here as the seem to c&p the same shit everyday

Bleeding Claret was the same person as Manuel and Private Dancer, think he used another name as well, Proper Iron or similar? this WHOicide is nothing new................
Personally, didn't have a problem with him, gave me loads of stick/cunting at times but just shrugged or laughed it off, met him on 2 occasions, seemed ok to me in real life, certainly not like his online persona
He did take things to far, one thing being called a cսnt, thick cսnt etc but he was like a dog with a bone with some on here!!! Problem is that if you dish it out be prepared to take it, and that was his ultimate undoing, just seemed highly hypocritical to bang on about stalkers and being targeted when he seemed to do that to others.
Good chance he comes back i reckon

Maybe not as Manuel but we see a "new" poster turns up and over the period of a few months it becomes pretty clear who it is, the leopard as they say doesn't change its spots
Thought he was actually ok when it came to the football side of things, had a good insight and perspective of the game and West Ham IMO, just when he went off topic it went tits up^^ Sounds like he is still lurking the site by all accounts, he should just came back if you ask me, yes he will get the piss taken, but then so he should

Maybe just stick to Football if your reading Manny son!

If l remember correctly it was Alf Ghandi who tried to get someone sacked, truely despicable character
Bleeding Claret wasn't much better as mocked someone on here from America who wife died of cancer year before
I took great delight in winding them up and would receive numerous whomails and threats

With genuine respect, Bungo my love, this is a chat site for West Ham fans, not the Algonquin Round Table. Expectations need to be lowered, I think. We're just a bunch of bennies.
It's a case of just how low expectations can be set.
Being a West Ham fan doesn't necessarily mean that there has to be a total absence of neural activity...
What fresh hell is this?

It takes nanoseconds before it dawns on me what I'm reading, then I immediately give up and move on. You are at least as clever as me, so this should be no more of an imposition for you to do the same.
Yep I would hazard a guess that you saw my post which read 'herons cock' and your automatic filter kicked in and thought that's enough of that and you moved on.
On the contrary, for a minute I was poised to respond that herons have cloacae, not cocks (unlike ducks) but decided I would probably draw fire for being boring. Justified fire.

Well, I was on here 25 years ago and the difference was that the witless bickering took up a small percentage of the overall posts. These days it's a much, much, much higher percentage. And as Bungo has said, no one's offended by it. They're just bored of it.
