Not the worst but another disaster currently on the books is Cornet.

I’m not sure how to think about Savio in this context. Yes he was shit but I don’t think buying him was a ‘mistake’ per se at all in that our DOF or whatever his title was, that Italian bloke Nani did it on purpose knowing he was shit, to funnel money to his father in law or something at Ascoli?

For me its Savio, £10m was a decent wedge at the time and he was as bad if not worse than Roberto
Kilman and Haller are also up there for wastes of money. Felipe Anderson also deserves a mention
Wilshere has to be in the discussion also
there were quite a few when we moved to the LS that could have their own chapter, Nordveit, Tore, Calleri, Zaza

Benni McCarthy called Karren Brady" the devil with a set of tits". This comment was a retort after Brady had heavily criticized him in her newspaper column for his performance at the club. The public argument continued with each of them trading insults, with Brady famously responding to his sexist jibe by saying, "At least I'm supposed to have tits".
Hahaha

My god, I'm getting flashbacks reading through this thread. Watched far too many of the absolute bilge mentioned on here. The price tags on many of them bordered on criminal.

Todibo is giving Kilman a run for his money.
That's just not true. Todibo doesn't run.

Because of how much he cost, Max Kilman is the most disastrous signing we have ever made.
Roberto the goalkeeper.
The black teenager we paid a fortune for. Can't remember hs name
Savio?

Freddie Ljungberg was finished when signed on massive wages and a waste of space.

Roberto is the worst ever player to step on the field for this football club. But the context there is he was a free transfer, and brought in as a back up keeper, even though he was literally throwing the ball into our net. It's incredible just how bad he was.
But the worst signing, pound for pound, given the situation at the time, is Benni McCarthy.
Said it recently on another thread, but he had played against us that season, and he was the size of a fucking whale in that game and couldn't move. We were bang in relegation trouble, we were lacking a striker, lacking pace, and Victor Moses was available from Palace for £2.5mil and had been playing up front. It was the only cash we had, and we signed that finished fat cսnt with our last bit of cash when we were genuinely skint. He waddled through a few games, never scored, he literally couldn't run, which we knew BEFORE he signed. At least most of the players being mentioned on this thread tried, even if they were shit. He didn't try a leg.
Kilman is getting close, even though he was only part of a big spending spree unlike the cսnt above, but given he was £40mil, and in my eyes is the biggest weakness in a team that is going to get relegated, he is firmly in the conversation.
The Kalvin Phillips thing was bizarre. £7mil he cost us, even though it was only on loan. Had previously been very good for England, signed for big money from Man City, and he looked like he'd been plucked out of the women's 4th division to play in the Prem. I reckon he was probably the one player where the difference between what was expected and what we got was the most stark.

Pellegrini and husillos definitely unearthed some treasures
Carlos sanchez
Obvs we are complaining now about kilman and todibo, but the big disasters and financial losses started with pellegrini and we still havent recovered. The Rice money and the european run probably kept the club from collapsing.
I think someone who isnt me should do a few sums and stats to properly crown the "worst ever signing"

Dyer no chance. We just got crazy unlucky with injuries with him.
Cost and perceived importance to the team vs performance has to be key here and how badly they fuck the club rather than just the shittest players we have ever signed on talent alone seen as several of them would have been peanuts and not made a dent.
Kilman has to be a really good shout and possibly the worst of the worst
Felipe Anderson was god awful
Scamacca and Haller not because they were shit per se but cost vs ROI
JWP
Alvarez
Vlasic
Hermansen could be well up there when all is said and done
Todibo
I've probably forgotten a few. An alarming amount from the last decade, but i suppose prices have never been higher and we have had to put up with 'talent spotter' Sullivan ruling the roost. None of those were without his tacit approval or flat out him acting alone.

Kieron Dyer is nowhere near to being the worst.
Agreed. Suffered a horrific leg break against Bristol City and never fully recovered.
Hardly his fault.
For me, probably the fucking spastic Roberto. Totally derailed what might have been a promising season by having the athletic prowess of Elsie Tanner.
Didn’t he break his leg before we signed him?

I always thought Mavropanos was bad, but he's Paolo Maldini compared to the clown twosome of Todibo and Kilman.

Robbie Keane who at least scored a couple of goals in 9 appearances. We've had far far worse.
