El Scorchio 8:25 Thu May 23 If the England game wasn't a friendly he'd have been sent off for sure.

"So, we have a player on our books whose popularity amongst many fans has diminished, will be banned for a lengthy period, will take months to rediscover form - and will eventually leave us for a fraction of his current value. Fucked us up, good and proper."

I struggle to see how they can charge him without concrete proof. Unless they are going to bring out his Uncle Pedro who stands up and testifies against him or Columbo is on this case

"Instantly when I read this, the performances for Brazil against England and against Leverkusen sprang to mind. He was weird in those matches, acting almost like he wanted to get booked from the get go- particularly the Brazil one. And you'd think he really wouldn't want to get booked in the Leverkusen game considering we'd have a really tough return leg with them coming up. I seem to remember it was for something very petulant and avoidable as well like kicking out pretty unprovoked?"

"As we've witnessed many times he can be rash and hot headed and is highly liable to get booked. Alvarez is another. If you follow either closely, betting on them to get booked is easy money."

"My guess is that there are clear irregular betting patterns on his yellows and that they think it's enough to prove on balance of probabilities (It's a civil charge, not a criminal one) that he's guilty of spot fixing. But whether irregular patterns are strong enough proof to prove guilt, I have no idea. Or perhaps there is other evidence?"

"Manuel - agree 100% with you. I’m not fussed if he doesn’t play another game for West Ham. Yea he has many sparks of brilliance but many games he’s invisible, petulant, show boating, diving and playing playground keep-up football. Now he’s been charged the big money move is off. That’s the real pain for West Ham now."

One of the charges is from 23/24 season against Bournemouth in August. Which happened after Paqueta knew he was being investigated?

"FFS His statement on Twitter: I am extremely surprised and upset that the FA has decided to charge me. For nine months, I have cooperated with every step of their investigation and provided all the information I can. I deny the charges in their entirety and will fight with every breath to clear my name. Due to the ongoing process, I will not be providing any further comment."

Un like Toney he is not charged with making bets himself. Gawd knows how its proved unless its his family or best mates making the bets. He wont be getting his dream move to Citeh. Good odds on him getting off though ? ;-)

"Johnson - I suspect I'm like most on here where I'm not fussed if he stays or goes, but taking tints off the reality is he just isn't that great a player. A good player? Certainly, but a great player? no chance, he simply doesn't have enough in his locker for that to be the case and all stats back that up. He's not a game changer."

"Again proving what a stupid cսnt you are. I‚Äôve been firmly Moyes out for a long time. But I can still be rational with the decisions he made. When everyone was fit Paq played as a ten. It‚Äôs simple as that. You want to believe he played him on the left as some sort of punishment or something to make him look bad. You were wrong, hold your hands up and have a bit of self respect"

"only moyes will know why he's played a succession of players out there that don't fit the position, why the fuck you're going on about conspiracy, when it's happened to numerous players can only be because you're such a thick cսnt. similarly, players used as strikers that aren't strikers. it's what he does, stunk the place out for two years yet you cult members still defend him. it's amazing the loyalty you have to the most miserable football known to man"
