"He's at Bayer Leverkusen atm. Would he see West Ham as a step down? OK, they are taking the Bundesliga by storm but so what? Winning the Premier League with us would put him up there with the Greats - he'd be an instant legend."

Alonso ( *** taps nose *** ) ;-) Ok blind hope and faith that Steidten is a thinking man and can see the problems most of us do. Soucek many of us have said for 2 years he ain't technically good enough and too slow to play high level Premiership football. He runs around a lot and gets the odd saving tackle or header in or the odd goal for a set piece. That has masked his limitations as a Premiership level footballer Antonio? Another you have to question why he is still our only central striker and why he starts every game in the league ?

Until we change ownership. Moyes will be in charge. He has reached his ceiling. And the ownership reached its level. Fuck all gonna change until next summer.

The cսnt actually said post match if we'd scored first we could have managed the game better. Yeah hang on with everyone behind the ball for the rest of the game. Why some on here can't see how bad he is in the modern game is more baffling than the Loch Ness monster

"Antonio was simply dreadful. He had forgotten how to kick a ball. One attempted cross from the left in the first half spooned off his foot and went about 6 foot. He then lumbered about only being out lumbered about by Soucek who was even slower, if that's possible. But Moyes does fuck all. I can't believe he sent us out with Ward Prowse as the deep lying midfielder. FFS why. He has looked good going forward, that's probably why, far too adventurous for Davey boy. All in all a fucking shit performance all round."

"If Moyes's ""safety first""ù approach works, we can look forward to a series of exiting draws in the next easy run of games. At the moment though, even that is open to question."

Lee Trundle 11:39 Mon Oct 23 What I'm saying is that we have the squad and a potential team to give someone a tonking. But it looks like they are being held back. We've lost to very decent teams this year. It's not all doom and gloom. I think we've looked really good in certain games. Looked comfortable with a threat going forward. And all this without playing amazing. If Moyes let the brakes off we could give someone a proper tonking. We are good enough. But under Moyes its all safety first.

I'm growing suspicious about how Moyes consistently sets us up to fail in the League.

", 12:22 Mon Oct 23 Perspective would be easier to have had we not spent half a billion pound building this squad. Player for player, would you swap our squad with Villa's? You could argue yes, but there's not much in it, so why do they play expansive exciting football, able to put teams to the sword, and we're playing 19th century shithouse cսnt football that bores the tits off anyone with taste? The manager has been given the tools, unfortunately, it's like giving a winning lottery jackpot ticket to a crackhead, just less entertaining."

We could be just as good as Villa and Newcastle if we had the bollocks to get rid of Moyes

This was due but I'm now wetting my knickers. The next 3 games will tell us a lot. I'm donot expect much different but if he doesn't change things for the next game on the back of some of those performances yesterday then there is no competition for places

"Let's get some perspective here. We have lost three league games so far to Liverpool, Man City and Villa. The form of Villa over the last five games is joint best with Newcastle and Villas home run is exceptional. In short we have not lost to mugs""¶.maybe we still have that to come. And let's give credit to Villa because it is not just us that they have put to the sword. What Villa/Emery did was not just outscore us though they also highlighted the differences between them and us. Their attacking play spearheaded by the energetic Watkins basically had our defence fouling its britches every time it came forward. This attacking was driven on by a midfield that dominated us both physically and tactically. We by contrast were lethargic, second best to the ball, getting caught in possession, almost totally lacking in creativity and imagination. Villa look like this season's Newcastle."

"nychammer 12:02 Mon Oct 23 Easy mistake to make, as he was anonymous, but Antonio lasted pretty much the whole game, and came off in the 90th minute during the pointless substitution when Fornals came on."

"With a run of very favourable games leading to Tottenham away on the 5th December, it's going to be a good indicator of where the season will go, and what will happen to Moyes. Everton, Brentford, Forest, Burnley, Palace really ought to yield 9+ points."

it was clear after 15 mins Antonio was a waste of space and seeing him come out after HT and then not be replaced until after 70 mins was disgraceful when we have someone like Kudus sitting on the bench.

"Lost count of the amount of times we easily lost the ball and initiative in and around their penalty area after decent build up play; every time it happened, some more energy went out of our game. By the time the subs were made, it was too late and we were there for the taking. Altogether, this was the kind of performance I associate with relegation form."

"Russ, how can we give someone a tonking without the ball? Chelsea, Brighton and possibly others should have done what Villa did to us. Sitting back with the defence we've got is suicidal and I don't think we have been good this year. The margins for success when relying on the keeper having 9/10 performances and converting one of two chances because you've never got the ball is a recipe for disaster"

"I think we've been pretty good this year and we've looked very balanced and have played some nice football. But we've done this without looking amazing. This season I've been pretty happy with performances but always felt there was alot more. I've been waiting for us to give someone a proper tonking and I know this team is well capable. I think the problem is that Moyes limits our chances of doing that to someone. Somethings not quite clicking and they are being held back. I'm not going to jump onto the Moyes Out bandwagon just yet as I think we've hugely improved in the league from last season. But I think supporters are getting a little frustrated as we've seen this all before. Moyes percentage game of hanging in there and hoping to nick something is too flimsy and, for me, its not sustainable. I think supporters are worried that we have a crop of players that can do so much more but the opportunity to do so may be squandered by Moyes-ball. It's all a bit of an ongoing pattern that we are seeing and there's a bit of ""here we go again""."

"For me we have been bang average since Lyon away in the Europa league He should have gone before the World Cup last year Since Lyon we haven't progressed as a side, theres still holes in the squad, positions still not strenghted, shit players picked week in week out, man management awful, negative defensive shit football under utilising the talents within the group. new signings not used As said on the match thread I am not sure on paper there is much between us and Villa on paper... difference for me is in the dugout With german Tim attracting talent through the door we need a good coach to get the max out of the group on the pitch. That simply isn't Moyes"
