Euro 2024 - Inc Southgate resignation
"We seem to have an England v Bosnia thread but not an actual Euro 2024 thread so here it is So, do we realistically think England can win it? On paper we obviously have a very talented squad but I just don't see us going all the way. For me it's ""same old"" when it comes to England. Breeze the group, favourable draw in last 16 and win then up against far superior opposition in the QFs and out. At best I can see us at the SF stage before being beaten again. Winners for me: France, Portugal, Spain Dark horses: Germany - even though it's a home tournament they've been in a consolidation period, could go close Biggest flops: Scotland - no goals scored Top goalscorer: Mbappe I'm just hoping it's a decent tournament with plenty of decent games that's not ruined by VAR (are they using it?) consolidation period but could go close"

Re: Euro 2024
"Southgate has reverted to a team he knows categorically does not work. Trippier at LB again, Foden out on the left and Kane lumbering around up top. The man is a genuine moron. Don't see us winning this one with that fucking idiots lineup. Stupid cսnt."
Re: Euro 2024
"Are you having another breakdown? It’s completely relevant. Southgate’s record is padded out with victories over mediocre teams at big tournaments. When it comes to the crunch he’s lost to Croatia, Italy and then France. Maybe he’ll put that right."
Re: Euro 2024
"Nutsin, after embarrassing yourself constantly on the Moyes thread I thought you’d have stayed off football threads. Asking you to name a decent side that Southgate has beaten at a major tournament is completely the point. You just can’t answer the question."

Re: Euro 2024
"The DUTCH are comparible to England in terms of should have won more than they have so I put it as a 50/50 match. Spain on the other hand, although not on the same level of honours as say Germany and Brazil are a tier above England with three majors in a row and an abundence of talent in their squad (as we have), however, if I was betting on a game between England and Spain (if we win tonight) I know who my money would be on"

Re: Euro 2024
"Nutsin - I'm not slating Southgate, just saying rather than going all round the houses nobody has won anything since Ramsey. I'm not a Southgate hater, if anything I'd side with you and history will show he's had a good track record. No shock defeats in a tournament i.e Iceland, no exits at the group stages, with the earliest exit being a QF and no failures to get to a tournament like in 94 and 2008 there has also been a renewed interest in the England side since he come in, BUT the fact remains we do go out of tournaments once we come up against a top side, hopefully that will change in the coming days."
Re: Euro 2024
"Manuel So you haven’t had a good time celebrating any of the many wins that we have seen so far this tournament or others? Nagel, yeah I get it, everyone else was better before and this England team is the best we’ve ever had so Southgate gets no credit! What a stupid position to take, you sound like a real bitter twat. Goose stop trying to be relevant, your argument is more pathetic than Nagels ffs."
Re: Euro 2024
"Southgate has lost to France and Italy at major tournaments. Capello lost to Germany. Sven lost to Brazil and lost a couple of penalty shootouts. Southgate has has comparable, if not better quality squads available than anyone of those. He's had the most favourable draws ever but so far has never beaten a decent team at a major finals."

Re: Euro 2024
I'm not moving the goal posts at all. You just don't seem to understand the point I'm making. Never mind.
Re: Euro 2024
Moving the goal posts now are we Nagel. You sound like a politician. France and Argentina are both very good teams in this era as are Spain and Portugal. Yeah Germany and Brazil are not the usual threat. Southgate has produced with a lessor team to managers of the past. Give the man credit where it is due ffs!
Re: Euro 2024
"Nutsin 7:08 Wed Jul 10 Yeah, that was a hell of a cast. Now have a look at the teams of Brazil, France, Spain, Germany, etc. in the same era and you'll realise that they were better or at least equal to the England of the time, and all had much better players than their current counterparts. You can't compare different time periods as like for like, without any context."

Re: Euro 2024
"I think we beat Holland tonight. The problem is we then have to play Spain in the final who look sublime. Unless Boregate changes things up properly, and by that I mean dropping Kane and playing a more attack minded system, we lose heavily against a side that is tactically and technically much more gifted than us"
Re: Euro 2024
"Gazza lost a World Cup semifinal on penalties and the euro 96 semi on penalties. Both against the eventual winners. The generation you mentioned suffered similar penalty defeats against Argentina, Portugal twice? and got beat at world cups against Brazil & Germany. Southgate has never beaten a decent side at a major finals. Yet."
Re: Euro 2024
"Southgate is the main reason we will come unstuck either tonight or on Sunday. He is sticking with Tripper at left back, he is sticking with Kane, he is sticking with the mid block, he isn't playing those that are fresh and in form. (Palmer, Toney etc) We wont be able to play for extra time and pens against these better sides. We wont be bale to play more attacking when were are already behind. Southgate's track record against the top teams is proper shit. Yet he makes the same mistakes over and over again despite having some of the best talent in the World at his disposal."
