Police apply for more funding for Madeleine McCann search
"FFS! Surely enough is enough? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2018/02/12/police-apply-funding-madeleine-mccann-search/ Detectives investigating the disappearance of Madeleine McCann have applied for more funding for the search. The Home Office confirmed that it is considering an application from the Metropolitan Police for more money to keep the probe, called Operation Grange, going. A spokeswoman said: ""The Home Office has provided funding to the Metropolitan Police for Operation Grange and the resources required are reviewed regularly with careful consideration given before any new funding is allocated."" Government funding for the investigation has been agreed every six months, with £154,000 being granted from October last year until the end of March. More than £11 million has been spent so far on the probe to find the missing girl, who vanished from the family's holiday apartment in Praia da Luz in Portugal in May 2007, aged three. Madeleine's parents Kate and Gerry McCann, of Rothley, Leicestershire, have vowed never to give up hope of finding their daughter. In 2011 the Met Police launched its own investigation into what had happened to the toddler."

"Westside 6:29 Mon Oct 30 Re: Police apply for more funding for Madeleine McCann search Obviously they're guilt of being negligent bad parents, I was more referring to people who were adamant they liked her and his the body . Nurse it was on the radio last week, I don't know the exact details but two prosecutors have been fighting over the case for months and they've reached some sort of agreement, apparently it's held everything up for a year or something. Surely it's a lot more believable than the alternative? A sadistic Paedophile with previous for opportunistic rape and torture, proven to be in the area at the time despite denying it, leaves for Germany almost straight after despite being there for years, AND tells a mate he knows what happened to her. I mean it sounds pretty compelling doesn't it?"

"""German police nearing a formal charge of Christian Brueckner..."" I looked on a few news websites, but couldn't find a story. Has there been physical evidence found or something?"

"any amatuer sleuths on here prepared to admit they may have had things a little wrong? Oh, so the parents, didn't leave a child alone, while they went out for a meal, then?"

"Ideal in the sense that he had previous, the means, the motive, and has hinted he was involved? Yeah seems pretty ideal to me. And would be the German police be interested in providing a fall guy?"

"With the recent news of the Portuguese police apologising to the parents, and the German police nearing a formal charge of Christian Brueckner (not to mention he basically confessed to it to his friend), any amatuer sleuths on here prepared to admit they may have had things a little wrong?"

"She went missing on 3rd May (mu birthday) you can tell the anniversary is coming up as the stories suddenly appear in the press. It is a tragedy whatever happened, but she isn't the only kid to have gone missing in the past decade ans 99% of them haven't had a fraction of the press this one has had"

Yeah and the bin weighed something like 12 stone when lifted? So surely that means we know what happened?

Re: Police apply for more funding for Madeleine McCann search
"Cholo, Yeah, there’s a 15-year statute of limitations in Portugal. It doesn’t mean the case will be “closed” per se - just that, unless certain procedural stages are followed, they have to go back and jump through various hoops again if significant new evidence arises. So, upon advice from German police/investigations, the Portuguese have listed him as a “named suspect” due to his bar-room confession, location at the time etc (and most likely some other verbal evidence that can’t be disclosed). But that won’t be enough. They’ll need more. It’s an odd system in Portugal, as everybody now knows because of this case."
Re: Police apply for more funding for Madeleine McCann search
His status as an official suspect must be restricted timewise too. With no physical evidence he was at the crime scene they'll be relying on getting a confession out of him I suppose.

Re: Police apply for more funding for Madeleine McCann search
Cholo They can reopen cold cases if any new significant evidence arises.
Re: Police apply for more funding for Madeleine McCann search
"southbankbornnbred wrote... Because the case is 15 years old on 3rd May, the Portuguese had to name an official suspect by then or they would be unable to declare anybody a suspect. Kind of gets timed out. So after only 15 years, all cold cases in Portugal are completely closed with no chance of them being reopened with new evidence? Bit weird?"
