On a thread about what has become wrong with this website, literally a couple of back and forths in true traditional WHO style and what it's always been known for, and it gets locked. Like the Jota thread, it's the only thread that's getting any proper traction.

I'm beginning to think Manuel had the right idea. This place is being turned into KUMB.

With genuine respect, Bungo my love, this is a chat site for West Ham fans, not the Algonquin Round Table. Expectations need to be lowered, I think. We're just a bunch of bennies. 

It's a case of just how low expectations can be set.

Being a West Ham fan doesn't necessarily mean that there has to be a total absence of neural activity...

It takes nanoseconds before it dawns on me what I'm reading, then I immediately give up and move on. You are at least as clever as me, so this should be no more of an imposition for you to do the same. 

 

 

Once you have realised what is happening in a thread and you have made the decision to stop reading, you can then either abandon that thread permanently, or dip back in now and then to see if any worthwhile content has resumed. This can of course lead to reading more pointless garbage. Tricky even for those of above average intelligence..

Ok, but have you tried just not reading it? I very rarely do. I just skip past it. 

I agree the protagonists could make more of an effort to be entertaining, but not everybody is creative like that. 

Trying not to read it is quite difficult unless you start to read it and then realise what it is that you are reading.

Probably just as well you petals weren't on here in the early noughties. If you think the running feuds and abuse are bad now, it's laughable. Back in 2003-ish, we literally had a poster contact another poster's employer in a deadly serious attempt to get him sacked. It's just a bit of verbal handbags now. I hate to say 'If you find yourself offended, piss off to KUMB', but if you find yourself offended, you could always piss off to KUMB.

It's not about being a 'petal' or how offended anybody is, just how unbelievably dull the usual participants are. 
It's a bit like trying to read a book when only one page out of ten has any content worth reading.

I've never understood the whole coming back as another user thing, when you're a regular on here.

You can normally spot them early doors.  I think Hammered & Pickled lasted about 3 posts under his new username before he was called out.

I missed that - who was he??

I can't remember the username other than it was named after some booze.  In his first couple of posts he started to abuse someone using crayons in the insult.

He wasn't very good at hiding himself.
