"One of my struggles* with her was over the language of the relationship. I wanted German (at least when we were on our own (it would have been odd to insist on German when others around didn't have it), she wanted English, arguing that English is a World language, and German isn't, so her need for perfect English outranked my desire for good German. But we were in England, so she had plenty of opportunity to discuss with others in English. *shit, that reminds me of a book... gets Strangelove right-arm twitches..."
