NFL (since 2016)

"Free agency started last night and was pretty crazy some huge money being spent. Osweiler getting £18m a year for the Texans, leaving the Broncos without a QB, Giants have spent a fortune on good but not great players, Oliver Vernon has more guaranteed money than JJ Watt. lots more deals but cant be bothered to list them all."

"When is the draft? Aged 43 and 30 years into my love of the NFL, it still confuses the fuck out of me because of all the draft picks etc traded away. Can't wait for it all to start again thanks to the cluster fuck that is West Ham. At least I have something to look forward too - a winning season for the Niners again!!!"

"I think the Redskins medical staff and coaches were a bit irresponsible with Griffin as well. He shouldn't have played in that playoff game where he re-injured himself. Undoubtedly fucked his career, the way they handled him."

"i really hope our lot draft on a need basis. i listened to doug williams yesterday who was talking about possibly going the 'best player available' route. we need a big, powerful DT and Vea is him, Payne if Vea's gone early. if they go anywhere near a WR for Smith they've really fucked up"

"TM - yeah, I watched a lot of Griffin's first season for you guys. He was excellent, and it's such a shame that injuries got the better of him. The problem was always going to be what happened when opposition coaches worked out how to contain him on the run, while covering his primary receiver. Once that happened, in combination with injuries, he was never the same kid. Shame, because the entertainment value was immense."

"As it is, it's looking nailed on that the Jets will take Baker Mayfield at #3. I've grown to like this kid more and more as the draft has got closer and I've watched a lot more video of him without the hype. His accuracy is unreal - even more so when he's on the move. The big issue for him as a potential NFL QB is how he transitions from a college offense to a proper NFL system (not that the Jets can regularly be accused of using a ""proper"" NFL system!). Darnold and Rosen sit above Mayfield in the QB list this year primarily on the grounds that they are NFL ready because of the systems they've played at college. There's a touch of the Jim McMahon about Baker Mayfield. People are going to love his 'fuck you' attitude in New York, and an ability to find some magic out of nowhere. Unless the Brownies decide they want him first..."

"Rg3 was brilliant in his rookie year for us, one of my favourite seasons but as soon as opposing coaches got familiar with him it exposed his limitations throwing the ball. he's up there though with the bravest QB's ive seen but took too many risks that caused his injuries"

"Yeah, it's hard to assess Jackson in NFL terms. Nobody knows whether he could make the transition in the way people like Vick did, or whether he's another Tim Tebow (bit harsh, but you get the drift?)! He's movement and ability to run is outstanding. But there are some serious doubts about his passing accuracy and his ability to throw from the pocket. Doesn't rule him out as a NFL starter, of course. But I do think the comparisons with RGIII are decent. As with Griffin, the worry for Jackson (and any team that trades for him) is what happens when his first major injury (which he will get with that running instinct from QB) slows him down. Can he just sit and pass more often than in college? The moment he moves past the line of scrimmage, he becomes the target, and potential scalp, of every hard-hitting linebacker and safety in the league. Like Griffin before him. One thing's for sure - while he's 100% fit and this quick, there will be some incredible feats (with his feet). On the Jackson/Watson thing: there's no comparison. Watson is a hugely better passer and a proper QB. I just hope that his knee has recovered because he looks the part, that kid. Jets should have drafted him last year - can't believe they didn't. If they'd taken him last year, they'd now be in a position to take Saquon Barkley at RB. Imagine that pairing."

"No im just saying as a prospect he seems more highly rated Think he's still sulking after the superbowl loss, seems like he wants more money to be honest, the whole thing with his trainer is causing some friction too. Gronk has come out and said he will be playing this year, brady will fall in line, just needs the rigt motivation, hopefully drafting a good QB will light a fire under him"

"Not right now he's not no, but he's a better prospect coming out of college, nobody though watson would do what he did when he started playing, christ tom savage was the starter ahead of him. But the upside lf jackson is off the charts"

"Well they have 2 1st round and 2 2nd round picks so they have some ammo to move up, might need to if Brady keeps fucking about, might just light a fire under him though like it did when they drafted Jimmy G. Jackson with Josh Mcdaniels designing his plays could be amazing in a couple of years after a year or 2 of learning under Brady and Bellichick"

"One of the quarterbacks could fall. They usually do. There's a fair few being talked about this year, but there are a lot of teams who want one and apparently not a great deal of consensus on where they should all be ranked. Some people say Rosen should go #1 overall, some say he'll be the guy who slides. Some say Allen WILL go #1 overall, some say he shouldn't be considered there. Darnold Allen Rosen Mayfield Jackson The only cert I think is that Darnold goes #1 or #2. He's not getting past the Giants. (or whoever may trade into the #2 spot)"

"I'll tell you who I do like the look of after doing some more research, Lamar Jackson - seems to be a more athletic version of Desean Watson entering the league, he has a bit of an inconsistent arm but is being compared to Mike Vick in terms of mobility with a far better arm than the animal beater ever had coming out of college. Rumours of him going potentially to the Patriots at number 23 - but with the early rush on QBs at the top of the draft I cant see him being available that far down as someone will trade up to go and get him around 15"

"The Browns can't afford to miss on ANOTHER quarterback and settle for the second or third best in the draft at 4 when they can have their choice at 1, even if a great running back is sitting there. Barkley may be the best player but QB is a far more important position. Get it right and you're set for 15 years. Get it wrong and you're the Cleveland Browns... They should go with a quarterback. Looks likely Darnold or Allen if all the gossip is to be believed. Whoever it is can sit for a year or until this season is a write off while Taylor starts."

"Barkley should go no1, especially when there's three or four decent qbs and the Browns have the fourth pick. knowing the way they draft, Barkley will drop to your lot and you'll at last have a great back again :.("

"Giants will take Barkley if the Browns don't. And will only take Darnold, again if the Browns don't. Management and ownership feels Eli needs more weapons and a little bit more protection. Then maybe.? Just maybe they could become in contention in the NFC East."
