Euro 2024 - Inc Southgate resignation

Post Phall Throw »

"We seem to have an England v Bosnia thread but not an actual Euro 2024 thread so here it is So, do we realistically think England can win it? On paper we obviously have a very talented squad but I just don't see us going all the way. For me it's ""same old"" when it comes to England. Breeze the group, favourable draw in last 16 and win then up against far superior opposition in the QFs and out. At best I can see us at the SF stage before being beaten again. Winners for me: France, Portugal, Spain Dark horses: Germany - even though it's a home tournament they've been in a consolidation period, could go close Biggest flops: Scotland - no goals scored Top goalscorer: Mbappe I'm just hoping it's a decent tournament with plenty of decent games that's not ruined by VAR (are they using it?) consolidation period but could go close"

"Leaving Ramos & Jota who carry a real goalscoring threat on the bench for 120 mins instead go getting them on with fresh legs, was insane. A manager with no balls"

"Zico - I'm not sure these teams aren't as good, just that before the tournaments were a step up. But now we have so many top players in the Premier league and the top European teams that they're better than the international teams"

"I don't think starting Ronaldo was that ridiculous, he can still play, has decent pace and can still finish no doubt, although not as clinical as before. The fuck up for me was leaving him on, but what do you expect from a gutless cսnt like baldie."

"Said it before, these international teams aren't a patch on the top international sides of the past, French, Germans, Dutch, Italians have all had far better teams years ago. That's what's frustrating with England as we at least have a lot of attacking talent that's being wasted. Re Ronaldo it was just sad watching one of the best of all time just walking around the pitch."

"Hilarious seeking the man child Ronaldo bomb out. Just a shame it wasn't against the African team and not the Slovenians in the last round. As for England, if we can't beat the fucking SWISS then it's an epic failure for which WOKEgate will have to go. But then, he almost blew it against fucking SLOVAKIA."

"I'm amazed that Martinez was allowed to throw a euro semi final by keeping Ronaldo on the pitch! Would Ronaldo start over Jota at Liverpool now? no. So why is Ronaldo starting here? Guy just threw it all away. I suppose when national image is more important than winning the thing, this is what you get. Maybe there was an ""understanding"" with the Portuguese FA? just odd."

Been saying for a while that we have the players but not the manager to do very well. So frustrating knowing that this squad is capable of real achievement but are set up to play with a handicap.

"I've not given up yet, Southgate may be a fool but not sure he's a complete fool, hopefully the Slovakia scare has made him wake up a bit. The players say that they are not being told not to press and to sit back etc but who knows. The late game yesterday was appalling, both sides should be going home."

Gutted that the tournament has been so dull. It’s been a real disappointment so far.

"Manuel - I agree and it's fucking frustrating watching the competition, we all know how many good players we have and have seen them perform at their best, but we all doubt Southgate has it in him to get them doing that, if they can we can definitely win it."

"Some of these so called top sides are making England look half decent, not convinced Spain are that great either. England 'could' win this easily if we get our act together, suppose we will find out later. Will be glad when this is all over tbh."

Always nice to see the Germans lose. Spain should be favorites. England against Holland would be something.

Martinez strikes again Ruined Belgium & now fucks up Portugal Ramos who scored a WC hat trick sits and watches alongside Jota & Neto Who keeps appointing this guy? France need to be let off the leash. Can’t score & wont challenge Spain unless things change. Mbappe needs to ditch the mask & man up Expect England to grind a win despite Southgate & reckon the Turks have shot their bolt with that last match. England v Netherlands in the semi Hopefully it’s the last we have seen of the English referees

"Bye Ronaldo you cսnt. And the rest of the snide Portugal cunts. France seem to be doing an England. Playing like cunts well below the sum of their parts. Hope Spain fucking spank them. France can probably grind them down but the bastard son of Garth Crooks has been utterly anonymous. Glad Spain got past the Germans. Kroos was a lucky man not to have seen red early in the match. Now over to England to fuck it up royally tomorrow. What‚Äôs the betting Southgate has found a space for ‚ÄòTrent‚Äô and probably compromised better players to do it in the new system? I don‚Äôt get why people are so obsessed with shoehorning him into the team. If it‚Äôs true we are going three at the back, I bet it‚Äôs Walker in the back three, ‚ÄòTrent‚Äô on the right and Saka moved over to accommodate him."

If two teams get to extra time without scoring then the game should go straight to penalties. Why play half an hour of careful risk free football thus wasting everybody’s time?

"Spain will piss on france, am thinking backing the arseholes is about the only decent investment I've made this year. Head and shoulders above everyone else and they don't even have a striker worth a wank."
