Re: West Ham v Bournemouth Unofficial Match Thread
York I think that's where Todibo comes in to play once he's more settled and given starts instead of the ponderous Mavropanos (who I like having as a back-up CH). Between both Todibo and Kilman our back line defence should be quick enough and smart enough to deal with a fair few counter attacks against us.

"My first game since giving up the season ticket. Quite enjoyed it, but we have been too susceptible to rapid counter attacks when one of the other team boots the ball upfield and their forward has a free run on goal. Happened several times in the Villa and Palace games, and last night too. It's a bit of a worry and must be addressed."
Re: West Ham v Bournemouth Unofficial Match Thread
It's a worry. We'll end up relying on Antonio. Again.
Re: West Ham v Bournemouth Unofficial Match Thread
I think we made a massive mistake buying Fulkrug. He is so slow.

"I know it was kids for a quid last night, but I still think the little fuckers were overcharged."

"Cornet and Somerville in the same squad, oh shit, and I tried to see what the German can do but sadly no, thank god AWB was good, I‚Äôm beginning to think that COYIs might not be over doing it?ü§£"
Re: West Ham v Bournemouth Unofficial Match Thread
"Would've preferred Jota, but I think Summerville will be fine. He played a neat 1-2 before he should've scored - just got over excited and lacked composure - and he didn't quite get enough of a bend on his shot from the edge of the area in the second half. Another day he gets 2 goals - that's 1 more than Cornet for us in 2 years"

Re: West Ham v Bournemouth Unofficial Match Thread
Somerville doesn't look like any kind of upgrade for me as the end product / final ball has been poor. Very impressed with AWB and to some extent Killman. The jury is still out re the German for me. We could do with taking a punt on another centre forward.

"Jota Silva (who we were linked to quite a bit over the summer) seems to have started well for Forest. Only had a few mins at the weekend, but was raved about, and then scored last night."

"Jimmy Summerville is a concern for me, is he one of these too good for the Championship, not good enough for the PL type of players? As it stands, it looks like he is no more than a benchwarmer. Also, when you hear the old ''he needs to bulk up'' line, well IMO you can forget about that. What is he 22? Probably been in gyms since he was 14 or so, so don't expect him to suddenly look like Adama Traore in 6 months, as it ain't happening."

Re: West Ham United vs AFC Bournemouth (League Cup) | Match Thread
AWB looked very good and adjusted well to left back. Todibo also looks like he can play but having got booked and looked to be tiring towards the end of the half (maybe he picked up a little injury?) I think the change at half-time was the right move. Fulkrugg didn't impress and Summerville was quicker than Benrahma but with the same shooting accuracy (early days yet). Still work to be done particularly in the speed of transition through mid-field and still too many aimless long balls. Bournemouth matched us on the night and were quicker in the transition good job they couldn't finish and good job there was no VAR or it would have been down to penalties.

Re: West Ham v Bournemouth Unofficial Match Thread
Eerie Descent 2:22 Thu Aug 29 I really hope that's the team (possibly Todibo over Mavropanos) on Saturday. And Kilman has been excellent. If he continues on like that then I'll happily eat my words over the transfer fee we paid for him.
Re: West Ham v Bournemouth Unofficial Match Thread
Eerie Descent 2:22 Thu Aug 29 Re: West Ham v Bournemouth Unofficial Match Thread I wouldn't disagree with that. Is Todibo injured now? If not it would be nice to get rid of Mavrapanos. He seems incapable of going 30min without dropping a clanger.

"What seems to be more evident than ever now is that the fans just want to be entertained and watch some exciting fucking football. Do we have good defenders now to help keep clean sheets? Yes. Do we have goals in the team? Yes. So we're going to be fine results wise, just give us something to get excited about, but I'm not that hopeful we'll see it under this coach. I still don't think playing in that bowl helps, apparently you could hear a pin drop again last night? But at least BRANDED enjoyed it as usual."

"I thought Guido was excellent when he came on last night, once he's fully used to football in this country he'll be some player. For me, our best font 6 by a mile is below, I don't think Bowen is actually playing that well overall on the flank, and for me his goal threat is badly needed up top. And Kudus is so badly hampered on the left, taking away his biggest weapon. ------------------------------------ Areola ----------------------------------- AWB ---------- Mavropanos ----------- Kilman ----------- Emerson --------------------- Alvarez --------------- Guido ------------------------ Kudus ------------------------ Paqueta -------------------- Summerville ---------------------------------- Bowen -------------------------------------"

"Eerie Descent 1:25 Thu Aug 29 Re: West Ham v Bournemouth Unofficial Match Thread From going from thinking Kilman was way overpriced and could be our weak link, he's our best player by an absolute mile and we'd have 0 points and be out of the cup already without him. He's been peerless in all 3 games. I don't think I've been more surprised by a player we've signed. Fuck knows what Wolves fans were watching over the last few years. I didn't have any preconceptions but he's been excellent. Wan Bissaka too. We have a defensive unit that is shaping up. Just need the offensive bit to do the same."

"Obviously with the League Cup you want to use some fringe players but Lopetegui must be getting to a point where he settles on his 'best' team That means no more Coufal , Soucek or JWP Think for Man City that means Alvarez & Rodriquez together and a decision on who plays up front as we wont have the ball Maybe a team with Bowen flanked by Summerville and Kudus Might change a bit after City and seeing if we can bring in another player or two if we can shift some of the deadwood this week"

When the opposition press we have to resort to aimlessly hoofing the ball up to Antonio or Fullkrug who have no one to lay it off to

Re: West Ham v Bournemouth Unofficial Match Thread
"I am quite worried by the performances so far tbh. Let’s face it, we’ve been 2nd best in all three games and have been lucky to win two. Fulkrug needs some pace near him. Kudus needs to be more central and more involved. I’m still not sure where Paqueta’s best position is. He has been poor so far and wants to play killer ball every time . I’d be inclined to play kudus no 10 and paqueta or Jimmy out in left. On plus side Rodriguez, awb and Kilman have started well. Overall I was hoping to see signs of our players being more comfortable on the ball and moving the ball a bit quicker and more accurately. I get it takes time but I’ve seen very little of that. It’s been largely slow play and often giving the ball away cheaply. It’s particularly disappointing as apparently loppy has been watching us for some time. To then play JWP and soucek together is a concern. Hopefully last night was a wake up call as it was so poor."
