Even thought about giving up of talking about football Vexed?

Not as wrong as some Charoo. Vexed 1:22 Wed Aug 9 It just keeps getting worse. What the fuck are we doing? Now we just need another ageing past his prime never was type player up top we can buy at great expense to fully flush the future of this club down the shitter.

"Happily admit I was wrong. Was hugely uninspired by this signing. He has massively exceeded expectations. He is so consistent, got great fitness, gets box to box, economical with the ball, can switch play, quicker mentally and physically than I thought, plus his set plays as we knew make so much difference. Proper Pro."

I would imagine that some Southampton fans were starting to pick holes/look for negatives in JWP because they knew he was leaving them. Quite a few of our fans were doing the same with Rice.

"They do indeed Nage, and that's never a good idea if you don't know your football. When you do know your football, and you've got a 100% record on these things, then you can't really go overboard enough. Learn from me."

in true COYI fashin. Playing down Ward Prowse's ability then also managing to use that in order to slag Noble off.

"Nage, I remember when he signed and I said it will be a solid signing, as did most, and in response you went and found a few posts by Southampton fans basically calling him average and a coward, which I admit gave me seconds thoughts. Couldn't have been more wrong, could they!"

"His 5 assists and 2 goals in 6 games speak for themselves, but I'm most impressed with the fact that his goals were both scored through him supporting on the break rather than from 25 yard free kicks"

I never understood why Noble got given the corners and free kicks he was terrible…..so much so even Cresswell was a massive improvement….

"Pretending that his deliveries are merely standard at this level is complete and utter bollocks. In the last 10 years in the PL, no-one has got more assists from set pieces than JWP."

COYI I think you're comparing Noble to someone who is statistically the best free kick taker in world football. JWP is an anomaly. I think he has better stats than Messi / Ronaldo etc.

"JWP's corner deliveries put Noble to shame and highlight what a limited player Noble is. Noble routinely couldn't get corners past the first defender at the near post, which is shocking for a Premier League level footballer. To be honest, JWP's corner deliveries are what you would expect as standard from a Premier League level, elite professional footballer. The fact they are lauded so much, shows how little our expectations have been up to now as we have have to endure years of dross from Noble and others."

His stats at Southampton showed what he is capable of. Now watching him week in week out. His corner delivery is a huge weapon. Think we’ve scored 4 already. Not seen much of his free kicks yet but the stadium got excited when he was about to take one last night. Outside of set pieces he surprised me with how well he works off the ball. With the ball he is never going to do something out of the ordinary but he keeps the ball and moves it quickly. Very good player.

Thought he was an OK signing at 30 million… However he’s exceeded my expectations… Long may it continue…

"Was a bit underwhelmed when we signed him but he’s certainly more than proved his worth so far. His deliveries must be a nightmare for the opposition to deal with. Obviously lacks pace but let’s be realistic, if he also had that he would be playing for a bigger club than us."

The only negative thing about our start to the season is how reliant we are on him already. Heaven help us if he gets injured. I admit I wanted us to get someone younger for the money but his quality with long passes and corners is just superb. Much more production than we have had in midfield for a while.

"The start he has made is unbelievable. I thought he'd be a good signing, but I really didn't think he'd be this good. The only thing he lacks is pace, but his all round game is very good, and his set pieces are genuine world class, probably the best in the world. What an asset."

Very impressed with him so far. Played very well again today. Seems mad we got him for that amount with no competition for his signature. Looks like he was rather undervalued by a lot of people.
