This new added time

I took no notice after we went 3-1 down and thought Villa had drawn and Spurs had lost. What a joke this added on time is…

Was there much time wasting in the Everton v Arsenal game? Only 5 minutes injury time in that one in comparison.

Is it possible to place a bet on how much stoppage time is added (per half) to a game?

"Time wasting is bloody obvious that refs should manage, what pisses me off is constant niggling fouls preventing attacks, pep master at it."

I watched the game live on a pirate stream but genuinely took consolation from checking other scores and seeing Tottenham were 0-1 with 7mins extra time played. Imagine my surprise this morning watching MOTD!

A player was definitely down for around 45 seconds in front of the subs bench during the first minute of stoppage time.

"Pwopa- Exactly. Board goes up on 45 for two minutes which is all good, then at no point after that was anyone injured or the game stopped for a minute. With Man City on the ball and on the attack, from NOWHERE they add close to an extra minute to it until they finally lose the ball and the whistle immediately goes."

"Large clock on display , every time a ball goes out of play or an injury or a sun etc the click stops. That way it’s all very transparent and, in theory 45 mins are played and displayed in each half. It works in basketball so why not football. And yes the extra minute at Man City were attacking was very odd yesterday. The whistle only went when that attack and possession broke down. That can’t be right"

"The alternative is to look over last 10 years and see the average time the ball is in play - I think it is about the 55 minute mark. So my suggestion would be to take timing out of the refs hands and have a match clock that stops every time the ball goes out of play or games stops. 30 mins per half. You end up with more football than currently played, would stop time wasting over night and top teams getting preferential treatment - or any accusations that they are."

"Last season, the average amount of time the ball was in play was 54 minutes and 52 seconds. They had to do something. The only alternative is to do time on/time off like rugby, and games would be a lot longer than what we're seeing now"

"Whats the alternative to this time thing though? If 90 minutes play are scheduled, is there not a responsibility to ensure that 90 minutes get used? I really dont see a valid case for changing it, to do so would surely encourage time wasting. If we were to grab a winner in the 101st minute at Anfield next week, I'm sure it'll be seen in a different light by those not happy with it. As for being brought in to assist the 'bigger' clubs, thats just bed wetting bollox."

I don’t have a problem if teams are time wasting. I’m just sceptical that it will be applied fairly and consistently.

Likewise I don’t know where the ref pulled an extra minute from at the end of the first half of our game earlier. I assume it was purely coincidence Man City were on the attack.

"More time to give the ""big six"" (plus KSA Newcastle) opportunity to come back from behind. It's so blatantly corrupt."
