"My first as a young teen were a pair of black Golas. My best and favourite were a pair of white Filas, which I wore to Cremonese. They were like wearing carpet slippers for the three day trip."

We now have customised trainers with one online retailer doing a Europa champions edition (??) in orange and white for around a ton and half. There are others over £200 with the badge /crossed irons etc. I will just stick with my Claret & blue Gazelles at £55. .

"as a12/13 year old in the early 80s my dad bought me a pair of puma GVs which i loved and probably my first casual stuff, quickly followed by a pair of faded jeans and a Lyle and Scott jumper. more recently (5/10 years) I've liked common projects trainers, you don't see them about really and one for the minimalist"

I convinced my parents i needed something other than Hi-Tec for my birthday and went to Sportique which was at the end of Roman Road Market. Came out with a pair of Reebok Pump and a Champion tracksuit. I thought i was the Mutts nuts.

"Earliest I remember would be the Nike trainers that Marty mcfly wore in back to the future. Had them with the red tick but favourite was with a sky blue tick. Best, I’m not sure has so many pairs. Like maison margielas, had them in all different colours. Loved the Prada americas cup trainers and have been flying through Nike Jordan 1 lows for the past couple of years."
