Someone like Paqueta who fouls a lot but is also dangerous feels like a prime target. Obviously it'll only favour the right teams, so I wouldn't go anywhere near it. "One thing I would be interested to see experimented with, is that any player given a yellow, cannot then be substituted for the rest of that game. If injured and taken off, they won't be replaced to cut out the inevitable injury faking that would happen. It might make some players think a lot more carefully about 'taking one of the team' if it increases their (and their team's) 'peril' level for the rest of the game, as well as making them more of a target for the opposition."

I am sceptical of any 'innovation' after what has happened with VAR. What I would prefer to see is VAR take a more cricket approach where it's something the captain of each team asks for and it should be limited to 2 or 3 calls per team to discourage it being used at all except for the most dubious of decisions.

"Even before the fixture list is out, the managers are given a pack of 20 numbered envelopes each containing 2 cards: ""Sin Bin, Yes:, and ""Sin-Bin, No"". These remain sealed and inaccessible to anyone, especially the media, except the chosen match officials. When the managers submit their team list to the referee, the respective envelopes for each game of the day is open. Two ""Sin Bin; Yes"" showings will mean that Sin Bins are available for that particular match. Additionally, a sending off for 2 yellows puts the sent-off player on the bench, available for use as a substitute, and one of his team mates has to ply the sacrificial lamb should the manager want to bring him back on again."

The game looks dodgy enough You can imagine the outrage if a Man City need to score a winner for the title in the last 15mins of a game which is the last game of the season and the ref sins bins the oppositions best defender.

Willl just slow the game down even more. How would it work with Keepers?
