Anyone been to Buenos Aires recently?
"Done a bit of googling and it looks like you can get double the exchange rate if you change up $$$ at lotto and western union shops. Anyone actually done this or is it one of those BS travel tales? Only there for 3 days so not a massive thing, only going to eat steak solidly for my duration. Cheers all."
Re: Anyone been to Buenos Aires recently?
I changed up money at a small shop next door to El Secreto de Oro in Palermo and it went fine and they were legit. My hotel gave me a pen to check the notes to know they were real. Enjoy BA.

Re: Anyone been to Buenos Aires recently?
"No, but someone at work did and looked into travelling by rented car to different regions/long journeys. They got stung by slightly speeding (but no more than the majority on the road) by two coppers who were basically out for a bit of money in their pockets. Just don’t give them any slight excuse to stop you, as apparently it’s quite common practice, especially if you’re not local."

"Me and a couple of mates took a wrong turning in BA some militaries stuck a machine gun up our noses, I shat a brick, it was in Junta days though."
Re: Anyone been to Buenos Aires recently?
Flying their today funnily enough. My Argie mate says take dollars and you get nearly double the rate on the black market.
Re: Anyone been to Buenos Aires recently?
"OTB, just looked on various websites via a google question. Hotels can point in the correct direction, just don’t fancy bumping into Carlos & co in an alley. Apparently fake money is an issue, they take the good cash and return it saying fake (they switched it) so you give them another note. Just wondering if it’s. 1000/1 if it’s worth bothering risking it for just a few days."

"What I should have said is that the official exchange rate was FAR below - stupidly below - the unofficial one, so you just did it in unofficial places (markets etc). It was a little worrying but never a problem. Have you looked on Reddit and the like?"

"Haven't been to BA lately so can't comment specifically, but did experience similar in Zimbabwe. This also wasn't recent but it was definitely a thing."

Argie pussy will taste better than the steak. Then use your meat to torpedo her hairy Belgrano
