Seasons where you enjoyed our style of football

"Obviously a lot gets said about our current style of play, so which seasons stick in your mind as ones where you really enjoyed the football being played, regardless of the results?"

My first season when we won the second division and made the league cup final. The season we finished 3rd when I did ?üíØ. The seasons in the 2nd division where we were suited and after the redknapp crew all were sold was the end for me. I absolutely despise this club now and will never get back those wasted years and money Premier league money has ruined the magic of the cup. Even Ipswich threw their game with Maidstone to keep them in the promotion race. Or maybe I'm just an old moaner.

Bellamy and Tevez were never at the club at the same time - still nice to dream though!

"Side - These days I guess you could play all three, Ashton, Bellamy and Tevez... Was watching the West Ham podcast last night with Matty Etherington and I miss those days of wingers on the right side, Etherington, Ward, Dev (although he could go both ways) just getting crosses in with their good foot from the line instead all this cutting inside stuff that gets predictable. Mind you we were playing that way back in the 70's with Jennings, Robson, Gould or Taylor as a front three."

"Zico, I would have loved to have seen the Bellamy/Ashton combination, but also the Tevez/Ashton combination. I always thought Tevez was too clever for our team and that is why he took so long to integrate, but a certain young Mark Noble knew what he was about, and Ashton would have loved his work rate alongside him."

"Ah thanks Vexed. Yep Ashton could have saved Pards job, although suspect the Icelandic's had their own preference anyway. Regardless Ashton/Bellamy long term would have been a cracking strike force."

"That was under Curbs though weren‚Äôt it?. I meant that cսnt Scaloni kicking the ball out and it ends me up with that scouse cսnt sticking one in from 30 yards. Remember Ashton & Bellamy tearing Reading a new one away from home, 3-0 I think it was."

"January 74 til December 74. We had Billy Jennings, Keith Robson and Bobby Gould up front and they were scoring goals for fun. If one didn't score the others would. We had a shit start to the 73/74 season but came good after Christmas. Then at the end of 74 we were top of the league. We didnt win another league game til March iirc but we got through to the cup final and won it that year. Lyall bough Alan Taylor from Rochdale and replaced Gould who I thought made the other two play better."

Stowie - I reckon that stone's throw was Ashton. Disaster for player and club. Can imagine if he and Bellamy had had a long run together it would have been cracking.
