Moyes has no inclination to employ either Paqueta or Kudus properly. His contract won’t be renewed largely because of this but also because of the Philips debacle.

That was Moyes admitting he didn’t know what he was getting with Paqueta you idiot! Only a real simpleton would think that meant he was targeted by Moyes FFS!

"Willtell, Paqueta didn't ever play as a DM for Brazil until after we'd bought him! Prior to the World Cup, they always played a double pivot with two from Casemiro, Guimaraes, Fred or Fabinho, while Paqueta was usually played as a No 10, but sometimes out wide. At Lyon he got 11 & 7 and 10 & 6 goals & assists in his 2 seasons there."

Moyes is describing where and how he plays for Brazil. He’s describing that Paqueta can play as an 8 or a 10 (by the players own admission). And somehow in your dementia ridden brain this is him not being a Moyes pick?

goose Exactly. That’s Moyes admitting he didn’t realise he was a DM for Brazil and agreed to the buy because he thought he would get assists and goals. So stop calling me a div and just fuck off…

"VirginiaHam 7:29 Tue Feb 27 I also think Paqueta and Emerson being brazilian helps. They seem to intuit each other very well, and Emerson looks twice the player he is when Paq plays. Also as has been mentioned, Paq and Kudus open acres of space for everyone (Emerson included)."

"""We know Moyes didn't pick Paqueta because he was an agent led purchase from reports. However, Moyes admitted he didn't know Paqueta played Defensive Midfield for Brazil and tried him there once or twice."" hahaha which ""report"" did you get that from?? C&H? Hammerschat? oh and this is what Moyes actually said you div: “We tried to bring in someone who could give us a link between the midfield and forward players and I still think it may be. “But his feeling is, if you look at where he’s played for Brazil, it’s tended to be Casemiro and Paqueta (in midfield) and Neymar getting the No 10 role. Lucas Paqueta was slightly deeper. So we’ve tried to give him the opportunity to play slightly deeper where he’s played for Brazil. “I’ll be honest, we brought him for eight to 10 goals, for eight to 10 assists. But if you’re asking me how he’s doing, he’s settling in much better, he’s playing better in games. We’re playing him more like a No 8 if you want to call it that, alongside Dec. But the fact is, yeah, we hoped he would get us goals or add assists…"""

"It doesn't really matter who scouted and bought the likes of Paqueta or Kudus because while Moyes is around, they really are not playing to their full potential. Watching us on a stream is also a confusing experience until you realise that, for long spells the players are just humouring him. They are effectively saying ""alright, we've been told to let you have the ball and get in shape; so you (that is the other team) try and see how many you can score before we start playing again"". Having said that, the latter part of yesterday's proceedings were pretty much unwatchable altogether. No wonder you can hardly hear our fans when we're at home these days."

"Yorkammer 5:32 Tue Feb 27 Paq seems to spend quite a bit of time pinned to the touchline by 2 defenders. That's probably why Emerson flourishes when Paq plays, since he has more space. One thing to add. An extra dimension both Paq and Kudus bring is their ability to win balls they shouldn't. Their strength, control, mobility and agility is such that even when oppo players have the ball secured, legs appear from nowhere and steal the ball back. Benny would never even think of doing it, never mind attempt it."

"Okay I’ll rephrase for you. Why are you making up rubbish like ‘Moyes didn’t pick Paqueta’? Do they release the minutes from recruitment meetings for simps like you to read? Moyes when Paqueta signed: “I’m delighted to welcome Lucas to West Ham. “He’s a player I’ve admired from afar for a very long time and of course, we saw him close up in our Europa League campaign last season.”"

Moyes didn’t want Paqueta? Why are you making this rubbish up. How many mistakes has Stavros made this season that led to goals? Jury is very much out on him. Similar JWP goes missing a lot. All this Moyes/not Moyes signing stuff is just made up to suit people’s agenda.

"goose I know you have to argue anything I post but Paqueta was definitely not one of Moyes picks. He didn’t even know Paqueta played DM for Brazil FFS! Typically you ignore all references I made to Moyes failings like - “ I'm not completely sold on the DOF role but so far Steidten hasn't made a single error in his signings. Moyes on the other hand bought Kehrer, Cornet, Ings, Aguerd, Zouma, Benrahma, Vlassic, Kral, Scamacca all of which were sold at a loss. Moyes wouldn't play Downes who is now Southampton's top player apparently nor Ben Johnson. And he brought Kalvin Philips on loan who has cost huge sums and helped us lose 3 games, to replace Kehrer, Fornals, Benrahma and Coventry. Such excellent planning!!”"

"Paqueta makes all the difference. Much like Payet, it's in part what he does with the ball but more importantly, the attention he gets from the opposition giving others time and space."

"goose 3:32 Tue Feb 27 Its hard to really know how rrcruitmemt worked before Steidten rocked up. Newman was handling identification of targets and scouting for a while and I thought it was Sullivan via Silkman that got Paqueta against the odds? Moyes was allegedly not keen on Downes,, Kehrer, Benrahma initially ( then he eventually played him and after this season got rid) . I dont know but to me Stedtens 3 signings all look better footballers ( technical ) and more pace than most of the others. ) Its that Steidten seems to be looking at players to evolve our play whereas Moyes was always keen on players to fit his low block countering game? None of us know really though? I dont although I recall reading that Emerson was via Newman, Sulli ? The CBs other than Mavropanos were rrportedly all Moyes picks ( Zouma, Aguerd ) as was JWP. The real issue is do we trust Moyes to build a “squad “ with players that can keep possession and are comfortable on the ball against teams outside the top 6 and do it effectively to provide a better brand of football and progress us even further longer term. Moyes history suggests he will always favour players for his Moyesball low block, static, deep, keep the shape and counter system. This is reason why we should part company with him imho as no team in the top 6 across Europe or in the Champs league plays the defensive, countering game as their primary tactic. The proverbial “chicken and egg” with Moyesiah as he will alwas recruit for Moyesball. Its in his DNA :-("

I reckon John Lyall would have attracted quite a good few top foreign footballers to play his way had they been easily available like they are today.

"Just when you think you've seen everything in football it throws up a new angle that genuinely surprises you and I walked out of the stadium last night in a confused state. I can't remember the last West Ham hat trick and it was lovely to see Jarrod beaming at the crowd as he walked off at the end holding the ball above his head which he totally deserved with his brilliant work rate, tenacity and finishing skill. I also witnessed something I never thought I'd see, JWP making a tackle not once but twice, which was astonishing. In fact the whole team got stuck in when they could against another bogey team (we've never beaten them in nine attempts) who were better than a lot of you say they were. BUT, Areola had to make a couple of wonder saves at the end as Moyes had pulled Tommy back after having a really good game and when we (infrequently) countered it was strange to see him in our own box and not theirs. When Moyes tries to shut up shop we're pretty woeful and static and it's not really worth it. Horrible to watch another team not being pressed and able to have all the time in the world to pick a pass. If only Moyes would tell them to play like the other team have scored and not us? That seems to be the only time we ever go through the gears and even as a defensive strategy it works. There were long periods last night when Brentford had too much of the ball and the stadium was so quiet (from where I sit) that you could clearly hear the players shouting to each other. A 4-2 win should have had me buzzing but we it still felt like we'd sneaked a win. Bizarre."
