Pablo Fornals

Post claret on my shirt »

"Looks like he may be off this week, he was a star in the making playing 17 games for the excellent Spanish U21's. Then Moyes got hold of him and played him as a winger I guess you could call it for most of the 150+ games he's played for us. He seems to be a great team player, good in the dressing room and a guy who always puts a shift in, but after never been given a run of games in centre of Midfield and playing out wide and as a bit part player his from dipped to where he is now. Recently he's looked like his morale has been broken. I feel sorry for him and really wish him well if he does got back to Spain. I feel sorry for the guy"

"Always a tryer but constantly being played out of position seems to have worn him down to the point where he looks downright bad. Debatable if he would have got in the team in his preferred centre midfield role. Never the most gifted but put in a shift and played, until recently, with a smile. I wish him all the best."

"""Only thing he lacked was a little bit of extra pace"" What a load of bollocks. I'd love to be able to stick this one in the manager, but since the day he walked through the door, his general ball retention and passing has been really fucking poor. The amount of times the ball has gone to him, and he's hot-potatoed it forward to no one, giving the opposition easy work getting the ball back. And honest, likeable grafter, but let's not let that get in the way of the fact he's been mostly shit for us. He trains with a football every day, not excuse to be so poor with it. Good luck for the future and all that, but I'll start the engine..."

"As others have said, been a good servant. Quickly became West Ham. Been misused and been a bit of a square peg, but always gave his all. Sad to see how lost he has looked in the last year and a move to Betis would be good for all parties. Will wish him all the best and always keep an eye out for how he does."

"Always liked Pablo. He's a grafter, and with a decent technique too. Only thing he lacked was a little bit of extra pace (especially as we played him out wide too often). He forced himself to get up to the speed of English football, and the physicality, which doesn't appear to come naturally to him. Liked him. If he goes, then I hope he does well in Seville. Great place to play your football - and Betis is the side to join in that city!"

"Alfs 5:05 Mon Jan 29 Re: Pablo Fornals Loved his attitude and positivity. Then Moyes wrang it out of him and made him half the player he was. Same with Benny. Deary me, benrahma has been giving more chances than most and been giving the freedom to play how he wants, he’s been dirt for the most part of his West Ham career. He’s just nowhere near as good as he thinks he is."

Fornals issue has been that despite some decent performances he's never been good enough to find a proper position and hold it down. He came to us as an attacking midfielder and was actually being played as a false 9 by his then club and Spain U-23's but that's not worked out in the PL. Good luck to him.

"Seems a great bloke, been a good servant etc and always worked his spanish jacobs off BUT As a footballer just isn't good enough for the Premier League. Not quick enough or skillful for the wing Not good enough on the ball to be a no 6 or 8 Can't shoot to save his life to be a no 10 £10M is great business for us, and I wish him well. He will always have that goal in Alkmaar"

"Had a couple of ok seasons. Will remember him for the goal at Leicester and of course the winner against alkmaar. Has been poor for past 18 months. Lacks pace for premier league - passing, guile and movement not good enough to compensate. Shame as I had high hopes when we signed him. Will do better back in Spain I reckon, good luck to him."

Cult hero who will always be well regarded by us. But no longer good enough for us which is a sign of how far we've progressed. Good move for all parties. Cheers Pablo.

"Good player and has played his part in our most recent 'success' Scoring the winner out in Alkmaar will live long in the memory of most of us I'm sure. £10 million isn't to be sneezed at though considering he is pretty much half the player he was when he joined so it's about right. £22 million well spent overall and if he was to return to the OS, he would deserve a big round of applause. Always has a good word to say about the club and fans so best of luck to him."

"Awful footballer, but yea it's Moyes fault that he can't pass the football or finish his dinner. I know Pellegrini is a fucking chump, but is he really handing over 10 mil for the grinning one?"

"Love the way that Pab fully bought into the club and played with a smile. Shone like a tanner up a sweeps arse when he first came, love his song, unfortunately destroyed confidence and spontaneity by our world class manager. Wish him well wherever he goes and hope he regains his form and becomes another player that Moyes has been shown to have ruined along with so many others."

Fornals was probably Pellegrini's best buy during the old boy's time. Agree with what others have said and it's a shame that all his talent seems to have been coached out of him. Good luck Pablo.

Lost his smile recently so hope he gets it back elsewhere. Hoped for big things after that Spain tournament but Moyes didn't use him right and his confidence went. Hope he4 becomes a success wherever he goes.

"Nice to see Fornals getting a good send-off on here. I've always liked him for his enthusiasm if nothing else, but he was also a good player for us. As said, though, he seems shorn of all confidence. Wish him well."

"Moyes has had big problems with the LW spot since he got here. Either they don't play the way he wants them to (Felipe Anderson, Benni) or he'll put CMs there instead (Fornals, Vlasic, Paqueta). He'll spend months chasing a quality LW (eg Kostic, Barnes) then suddenly give up and just go and buy another CAM/RW instead."

"""Modern players whether you like it or not respond better to a bit of love rather than having a teacup thrown at them"" I don't think he's ever done that. I'm sure Kral said he ignored him the whole time he was at the club"
