What about actual recognized breeds like the bull mastiff or doberman or american staffordshire terrier? From the article, it sounds like a bully dog is whatever the government says is one. What if a ""bully dog"" is bred with say a golden retriever, does it's offspring cease to be one or does it depend on the coat and size? I fully support dropping the hammer on bad owners, but these type of bans always seem unworkable to me for an inability to actually identify the type of dogs in question. As sold has pointed out, even the title ""pit bull"" is problematic as it is not a recognized breed. I had a mutt that was half american staffordshire and some brindle hound. She made it 15 years, and on more than one occasion, I had people complain to me about owning a ""dangerous breed"". I found her at 8 weeks on the side of the highway before you could even see any breed in her. In reality, she was incredibly sweet and never harmed anyone. She was just muscular."

I mean some people like women with massive arses... can't see it myself... would fancy my chances with a XL anyday rather than a fat arsed woman sitting on my face and suffocating me.... personally can't get my head round Labradoodles and the like... do nothing for me whatsover... especially when they are twice the price of a pure bred Field Trial Champ Lab .... but they and their ilk are massively popular... we all have different tastes and I suppose there are a good few XL owners that love that breed and look after them well..... and then you have the Cunts.
