"""going over the top as usual"" no, it was another brilliant goalkeeping performance. only over the top if you're a fucking div. one of many top drawer games from areola that have been the difference this season while trying to stem the goals coming from that useless wanker's tactics"

"Picked this up from KUMB Opposition Point of View. If anything scousers sense of humour might see them through ""Looking at the almost empty ground at the end and all I can think of is, apart from the supporters, there's no one left at the club who cares. We're such a basket case, it drains the soul and given the opportunity I'd drag our sorry arse to Dignitas and most would thank me for it. Absolute shambles that. We'll be the first club that the fans put in a transfer request."" - magicjuan"

"West Ham’s highest ever Premier League points tallies after 27 games: 1- 48 points, 20/21 (David Moyes) 2- 45 points, 21/22 (David Moyes) 3- 43 points, 15/16 (Slaven Bilic) 4- 42 points, 23/24 (David Moyes) Clearly going downhill with this European Football."

"I think it's funny how we tend to make excuses for us winning. We can only win because Everton are shit and Areola played a blinder. So we won and were high pressing rather than our usual low block. We still need Moyes to go for being so poor on many fronts. . Some of us forget that Pickford also played a blinder and was involved in the game a lot more than Areola. Possession stats show we were fairly even but Everton are weaker than us striker wise and were at home. Perhaps Moyes is saying he can play other ways but he should never give up on defending in depth because being top half consistently means a strong defence. However, there will be games where Paqueta and JWP play better and we tear opposition teams apart. I'm not at all unhappy with our last two games against weaker opposition but it's not easy playing and beating weaker teams that are full of effort..."

"The thing with playing a game. Youalways have to include who you're playing against. Last two games we won against teams we should beat now. Both teams who we haven't won much against. So, that's good."

"Yeah we’re not perfect, yet. Paqueta had an off game too, as did Ward Prowse. But it wasn’t all bad now was it. Some quality finishing, some stout defending, some brilliant goal keeping and plenty of fight and effort peppered with some nice touches and some nice play. Won’t go down as our performance of the year but we all know that this group of players can do and will do better. Paqueta, Kudus, Bowen, Ward Prowse, Alvarez, Phillips, Emerson, Areola. A couple of quality center half’s to replace Oggie and Aguerd and a center forward and we will have find some consistency. A tricky and fast left winger would be a nice addition too. Think I might go and have a wank!"

The second half we came out to counter attack. We werent pressing the ball as a team and we were a narrow block of players trying to stop them playing it through us. All they had to do was go out wide pull a couple of players over and put in a cross or into someone free in the middle. McNeil should have had a hattrick. Several times we tried to counter attack but the first or second pass was poor. All in all you have to be pleased with the great result but let's not dress this up as any kind of dominant performance. It was a smash and grab on a side lacking quality that didnt put us away.

", 11:26 Sun Mar 3 No bias from me. My post was in addition to your point about results being satisfactory for our owners. Of course they would be. As they were in 21/22. Unlike that season though, a lot of this season’s performances (you deride as having no importance) have more in common with last season. As for Moyes, I think he’ll get a new contract for the very reason you made a point of. Results."

If that was Moyes playing “more expansive” yesterday I must have missed it. Got to have the ball to do that and we hardly did anything with it all game until around the 80th minute. Guess this is tactical mastery at work but I’m missing that as well.

"Did Moyes play a more expansive style because he knows or thinks Everton are shit, whereas when it’s against one of the better footballing teams, city,Liverpool etc he reverts to type. Also, he’s never going to bad mouth Everton due to his history and he probably fancies a return when we get rid (hopefully) in the summer."

"We play a counter attacking game well. Although not so much low block yesterday, but struggled to stretch and break any team down if they are well organised and / or sit deep. Only our equaliser forced Everton to go back on the offensive and get another goal to win. Thats perfect for us as we are great at quick counters. We need to have another way to pkay against teams and that will take a few different pkayer upgrades and a new manager"

Fauxsatralian That’s a balanced view. I watched the whole game and we lacked much in the way of ideas how to open them up. Everton are pretty poor and will be involved in a relegation fight. Interesting when they came on to us we start to find space and attack. Interesting also that with Paqueta off the pitch we started playing better. I’d like to see Ogbonna partner Mavrapanos against Burnley. Need to bring Antonio at 70mins he will be useful as a battering impact against tired centre backs

It is ridiculous that the current definition of a natural arm position is that of a table football figure but that is where the accepted interpretation is right now.

Only had one look at it but thought the pen was very harsh Zouma's arm wasnt tucked into his side (that ISNT a natural position) but it wasnt outstretched starfish style. Standing to balance with your arm hanging at your side isnt an unnatural position when a ball is blasted into you from a couple of feet Maybe it looked different from another angle

Happy we won and could still make the European places given they will be extended.. cracking goal from Soucek and Alvarez and its always good to beat one of out old bogey teams... But lets not get carried away we were poor in possession and although we had a few shots we didnt look like the team more likely to win.. thankfully Everton were terrible finishing wise.. its back to playing poory but winning because our individuals not because of a team performance..
