My mate hid an apple air tag in hes range. One evening gets an alert. Long story short follwed it from caterham to essex where they parked it down a back road. Gave it 20 mins and just drove it back home.

"I've got one on my bike and wouldn't be without it NOW. However, I learnt the hard way that you can't live a poor man's life (like I do with my garage having no electricity) and have a stupidly impractical but beautiful Italian superbike that needs to be cosseted and tucked up nice and warm and on a trickle charge when you're not using it. The tracker would drain the stupidly tiny racing battery in about four days so I left the terminals unplugged. Little did I know that on about page 570 of the handbook in tiny letters it said 'if you remove the battery you will lose all electronic settings, so please recalibrate the ECU in this handy 17 stage process' (I'm paraphrasing of course). Fucking lunartic Italians. You think they'd put it on PAGE fucking ONE that if you lose power to the battery you'll lose control of the throttle-mapping, ABS, anti-wheelie and traction control and very likely be killed? Next scene, my beautiful bike sliding up the road and me looking at my kneebone through my ripped jeans without a CLUE what had just happened. My current bike, a bike designed in Britain, says on page one 'if you take the battery out you will lose your electronic settings. Please ride with caution for the first 15 minutes while the ECU recalibrates itself'. That in itself is a reason for not wanting it nicked, hence the tracker (and trickle charger)."

It's a very useful 'safety tool' We know where they are how long they're there for, how quickly they got there and how quickly they managed to get back to their fucking home. We of course are only concerned for their welfare. Just to allay any confusion that we're acting like big brother.."

"A friend of my son had their car nicked which had a tracker fitted... they received the notification of where it was, went over and drove it home. Apparently it is common for a car thief to nick a car, leave it parked on the street... if it is still there a couple of days later then it hasn't got a tracker fitted so they can continue the next phase of their operation (whatever that is)."

"I would suspect that you couldn't disable the vehicle traveling at speed but you could set it to disable (possibly applying the bakes and locking all the doors) as soon as the speed drops below 5/10 mph. Could also work in combination with a speed limiter that slowly reduces the vehicles maximum speed attainable, so it would slow down irrespective of what the driver does. Can it also be set up to notify the insurance company at the same time? Would save you a lot of extra hassle trying to get through to them when you've likely more than enough on your plate."

It was tongue in cheek I reckon you would probably get hung drawn and quartered if you disabled the car when being driven at that speed Back to being serious you can actually disable the car when you park it anywhere and it can’t go anywhere unless they intend to tow it but all in all a great tracker
