"The option should be there, properly legislated. I get that it's very complicated especially where there are issues such as power of attorney and making sure the affected person is actually able to express or confirm their wishes properly. But, you can put a fucking animal out of it's misery and suffering, yet not another human."

The option should be there for those suffering great pain and/or dismal quality of life Should be able to be done at home with a medical professional and not require flying off to Switzerland Those opposing from a religious point of view can fuck off Especially when presumably they admit its their God causing this suffering. "COYI That is one argument in an extremely difficult dilemma. But on balance I think it's the wrong argument. For one thing, there are effective ways of providing end-of-life care and comfort to people with terminal diseases. And second, someone with a terminal diagnosis is still able to live a satisfying life despite the condition. But it's still a very difficult situation and both sides of the argument have things in their favour."

Terminal diseases like this and late stage cancer are why I have always supported euthanasia. Surely it is better to be put out of your misery and suffering early when there is no hope for recovery.

"wd40 - Go fuck yourself you little Moyes fan boy cսnt. Why would you compare someone fighting an illness to someone fighting to keep a roof over his family, pay the bills and put food on the table. As said, they are both big battles in their own right."

You wouldn’t wish that 5 years on anyone but it has meant the work he & his mate Kevin Sinfield have done to raise the profile of MND has been immense Hopefully that research funding can end this horrible disease. Hopefully the work of the AFL player & coach Neale Daniher in Australia can continue that fund raising

"wd40 I know where you're coming from, but if possible it's better not to judge. Nobody knows what kind of mental agony someone else may be going through that may lead them towards suicide. Call it stress, call it fear or whatever, it's often just as real as a more tangible illness that you can see or physically feel. The MND charity is excellent and offers some high quality support to those with MND at whatever stage it's at, as well as for their families. It can last just 18-24 months or it can be five years from diagnosis, or even up to 10 years or more. Thankfully, hospice care is outstanding these days and can greatly relieve the dying process."

Makes you realise most of us have no problems really. Big bollocks to go through that - some form of euthanasia should be approved (for those that want to go down that path)
