Kilman Kilman signed

Post Alan »

"OS West Ham United complete signing of central defender Maximilian Kilman from Wolves West Ham United is delighted to announce the signing of Wolverhampton Wanderers central defender Maximilian Kilman. The 27-year-old has put pen to paper on a seven-year contract at London Stadium after spending six hugely successful years at Molineux, where he played under new Hammers Head Coach Julen Lopetegui and was named captain last year. Possessing plenty of Premier League experience, Kilman has forged a strong reputation as a hugely talented and reliable defender with more than 150 appearances at Wolves, where he played his part in their run to the UEFA Europa League quarter-finals in 2019/20. Having started his career at non-league Maidenhead United, where he was managed by Hammers legend Alan Devonshire, Kilman has thrived ever since moving up to the top flight with his August 2018 move to the Midlands, and is now thrilled to be taking the next step of his career in east London"

You could have been a bit more accurate in August when you were praising Lopetegui for the deal.

A terrific well spent signing by Lopetegui.

We can all play that game..

No idea what context that is to, but I guess it's not about Kilman, on a Kilman thread?

I like this term “The Sullivan Effect”

The reason we will never progress. Yet the media never call him out like they did with Mike Ashley or other owners.

He’s achieved his objective though. An apathetic fan base and change of demographic on match days that is passive regardless of the mess he creates. A stadium that is fit for a club that’s had its history and soul removed.

“The Sullivan Effect”.

It's been clear for a long time now we'd rather he moved on but he clearly doesn't care about playing otherwise he'd have pushed for a move/left by now anyway. Instead preferring to coast through life earning a fat wedge whilst effectively hanging his boots up with us. I don't begrudge him that, I just question his desire to really play anymore as he just winds his lucrative contract down.

Main cause being The Sullivan Effect.
Perhaps he saw The Flopetegui Effect coming and wanted to wait for his chance under the next boss. Smart lad that Danny Ings. You could learn from him.

Moyes/Lopetegui/Steidten effect if we want to be more accurate. The rot set in before the last manager and after Saturday's display it seems to be carrying on with a new manager.
No, it's The Flopetegui Effect. They all still had some value last summer. Even Ings had suitors that he sadly rejected.
Yeah, just 1 solitary goal against Burnely in 30 appearances, was worth his weight in gold in the Summer.
Worth his weight in gold or swapped for aTwix it's still a greater value than 0.

All a waste of fucking space right now in the way they either play or unable too in both valuation and/or wages for differing reasons. Not all of them will be worth next to fuck all in the future and just need to ride through this dogshit period. Everyone is severely underperforming bar Bowen, Soucek, Wan-Bissaka, Summerville who actually earn their corn. Easy to just single out Kilman when so many can be accused of much of the same and some definitely worse than his performance this season.

He needs to do better as does most our squad. Not playing close to what was paid nor will be troubling any other England cbs for a place in the squad any time soon. He will improve especially once he gets a better cb partner.

we shall also be shelling out 40m euros in the summer for Todibo. He’s been a much worse signing simply by never being available.

Need to cut our losses and get him off our books asap. If we could get anything for him I’d be amazed.

I notice that Dawson no longer starts for Wolves. Could do worse than getting him in til the end of the season.

Gank wrote: 20 Jan 2025, 14:52 He’s good on the ball, maybe he could play in front of the defence and we can sell Soucek, Rodrigues and Alvarez for a combined £75 million and then play Soler and Paqueta in front of him with the width being provided by the attackers we already have.
Wouldn’t mind seeing what he’s capable of there, Gank. Could go badly, but we could try it later this season (hopefully when we have enough points, which we should have).

Like with any West Ham player, I want them all to do well. They play for us, after all! But Kilman’s lack of pace is a concern at that price/wage.

honky cat" wrote: 20 Jan 2025, 13:53 Just a small thing. He was on one of those stupid sky sports things - what's your favourite pet type shit - with some of the other players and there seemed to be something a bit off, like he wasn't that popular with the others? Maybe he's a bit arrogant?  Needs a better CB partner and some tlc from potter, but at £40m should be the finished article. He's young, English, not a complete c**t, so will probably come good, or be decent enough to move on.
He's 28 in May so by today's standards he ain't that young, and we can now see there's a reason why successive England managers/caretakers haven't felt him worthy of a call up.

Will be better in a 3 (as was the case at Wolves).  Personally think we need a commanding organiser for the centre, and then it will be a straight line shootout between Wan Bissaka and Todibo for the right of a 3.

Thinking ahead to next season....

GK: New Signing
LCB: Kilman / Aguerd
CB: New Signing
RCB: Todibo/Wan Bissaka
RWB: Summerville / Wan Bissaka
LWB: Scarles / New Signing
DCM: Alvarez / Soucek
CM: New Signing / Soler
ALM: Kudus / New Signing
ARM: Bowen
CF: New Signing / Fullcrock

Make that 5 minimum new sigings to get a decent first team out.
