Summerville Signed

Post Alan »

"OS West Ham United complete Crysencio Summerville signing 9 minutes ago West Ham United is delighted to announce the signing of exciting young winger Crysencio Summerville. The 22-year-old joins the Hammers from EFL Championship club Leeds United on a five-year deal with an option to extend for a further year. A product of Feyenoord’s famed Varkenoord youth academy, Summerville joined Leeds in 2020 and impressed in the Premier League. Last season, he provided 19 goals and nine assists and was named EFL Championship Player of the Season as Leeds went within one victory of winning promotion back to the top flight. Now, the Rotterdam-born wide player will return to the Premier League with West Ham United, where his dribbling, crossing, passing and finishing abilities will provide a new dimension to Head Coach Julen Lopetegui’s squad. “I’m very happy, and I can’t wait to get started,” smiled Netherlands U21 international Summerville, who gained senior experience as a teenager during loan spells at FC Dordrecht and ADO Den Haag. “It's the perfect next step for my career. West Ham United is a huge Club, with lots of ambition and great players, so I’m really excited to be here and to get going. “I always try to follow my heart, and I had the feeling that this is the best place for me to continue developing as a player, and to push my potential as much as possible. “There is so much history here, and the team have done so well in the Premier League and in Europe over recent years. I spoke to the Head Coach, and he convinced me that I could make an impact, and help achieve success in the new season. “I think I'm here to help write more history here, and I'd love to help West Ham get back into Europe. I want to contribute lots of goals and assists, and I'm so excited to meet my teammates and the fans, and get out there now.” Technical Director Tim Steidten believes Summerville has the attributes required to perform and contribute at the highest level, after the Club fought off competition from a number of leading European clubs to secure his signature. “We’re delighted to bring Crysencio to West Ham United,” said Steidten. “We’ve been monitoring his progress for a little while now and we couldn’t be happier to have completed the deal to sign him."

"Jaan, But I 100% agree. This is exactly the kind of signing we should be making in order to move forward. Hate to say it but I believe it's a big part of what Spurs did well over the last 10 years or at least the early part of that when they signed the likes of Lennon, Dawson, Bale etc."

"Jaan, The fact we paid £25-35m for him based on his performances and effectiveness for Leeds over the past 2 years tells you exactly what to expect. We did not buy him to play in another position. Whether he lives up to those expectations is another questions but there is no doubt what he's been brought in to do and that is exactly what he's been doing at Leeds."

"I didn't really notice Summerville at Leeds. Sounds a great signing. Cannot wait to see Summerville, Bowen, Kudus and Paqueta together. There is also Fullkrug and Antonio! Amazing."

"Russ of the BML 1:33 Sun Aug 4 No it doesn’t? Adam Armstrong has been prolific in the championship, but not in the PL. Cornet scored 9 PL goals for Burnley, but hasn’t looked the same player for us. At only 22, he may take time to settle. May be on the bench quite a bit."

I see he played 45 league games last season but he did play 28 Premier league games the season before so not completely a novice at this level Scored Leeds winner at Anfield in that season.

"Jaan Kenbrovin 2:50 Sun Aug 4 You're not sure what to expect? 19 goals, 9 assists and EFL player of the season in the Championship last season shows you what to expect."

"Not sure what to expect from him, but It's the type of transfer that I was hoping we'd have more of by now. Young with a good profile. Pace. Likes to dribble. Got composure in front of goal. Wish we could find this sort of player before the likes of Leeds though."

Leeds fas at work is gutted. He cannot believe we're only paying £25+ add-ons (possibly £35) considering they sold the other bloke to Spurs for £40m. He thought they'd get that for him seeing as he was the player of the championship last year. Looks like a great signing and definitely the right kind of signing for us.

"I had a look at a Leeds site to see what they were saying about him. Though most are gutted that he's leaving a few pointed out that his crossing needs a lot of work. Very exciting player, however."
