The Notting Hill Carnival
“Like Cape Canaveral only with a lot more brothers” Sasha Cohen Always a great day out if you know how to handle yourself. Best act this time?
Re: The Notting Hill Carnival
Talking of money spent on 'the arts', I saw a very interesting interview the other day with a woman who is investigating what our public money is spent on in that sector. One thing she found (there are loads more) was a 'study' for which the creator was given over £800k (EIGHT HUNDRED THOUSAND) of public money to produce the most pointless, over indulgent and, quite frankly, incorrect shit you will ever read, with WOKE at it's very heart. This person, by the way, wasn't born here, doesn't live here. And yet, we can't afford to look after the elderly people that have lived here and contributed to the system all their lives, who are treated with utter disdain. Funny old game.

Re: The Notting Hill Carnival
I went to Poland last week. It was cheap, white and pleasant enough. The bell of the bell curve was like a dick which aptly describes the observation of the people and place. Not a broad spectrum. No cultural enrichers stabbing or nicking stuff. Obviously a slightly tainted history with regards to the Jews. I did see some dodgy trans types though.
London is the polar opposite. The curve is stretched out to include every colour and creed and odd cսnt the World can accept before locking them up. I happen to love living in London even with all the odd cunts but you have to expect some pretty fucking grim fuckers including the plod.

Re: The Notting Hill Carnival
Why should I give a flying fuck about something (or someone) that I'm completely indifferent about?
If others want to care, I'm not stopping them but I'm certainly not fucking paying for their indulgence, either; that's not why I spent nearly 50 years working. They want; they pay. Simples.
Money spent on the carnival - or any of the arts in general, really - would be better spent getting the homeless off the UK streets and into suitable accommodation.

Shame really as it’s all there for you on your doorstep. You could be happy with it, even proud of it. Instead you take it for granted or find something to despise about it.
It’s a shame though - the iron has clearly entered your soul.
hahaha you talk about irony!!??
the irony of you starting a thread about something you've never been to and then moaning about "the difference between the online version and actually being there" if fucking hilarious.

"Ease of travel"...yep, if there's one thing Britain is good at, it's ease of travel, with so little cancellations or delays and congestion. So cheap too.
Bank holiday weekends especially are a testament to this.

FFS, just crossing the river from south to north at London Bridge is an unforgettable experience. Then take only the British Museum - the Reading Room, the Da Vinci drawings, the Elgin Marbles, the Egyptian and Oriental collections; you don’t get the difference between the online version and actually being there? No wonder London is immigrants shitting on the street for you. You’re fucking lost.
People that live London aren't spending their weekend going to the British Museum. Stand in the queues for any of London's museums and there will be very few people from London in them. 'Londoners' go once or twice when they are kids and then they take their own kids if and when they have them. Probably the same amount of visits as the average tourist from Poland.
Cairos got amazing museums and the pyramids and the Sphinx are the equivalent distance away as a trip to Upminster. Wonders of the world indeed. However, women are very unsafe there. Especially blond ones. No one is claiming Cairo is the best city in the world and no one wants to live there either becuase they know it's shit.

Everyone is poor? Maybe if you are a 27 yo digital content creator called Brontë
Still waiting for your interests which are better satisfied in somewhere other than London
Seems not to be museums, art, theatre, music or a wide range of sport etc
You mean apart from the 4 or 5 times i've laid out for you what I consider important for a place of living?
Surprisingly enough London isn't the only place in the world with museums, art, theatre and music.

All those can be enjoyed form the comfort of your home, Sven.
What you can't get in the comfort of your home that London has to offer is immigrants shitting openly in the street.

Aussie says London is better than Australia, reason number 1………… it’s close to Italy.
Reason 2 - everyone is poor.

Re: The Notting Hill Carnival
You want to put a figure on that bet? Doubt you've got the alberts to do so.
I know plenty of ladyboys/katoeys - none of them want my arse (they obviously do yours though, being the supreme physical alpha male that you are).
They have natural mothers, they have natural fathers. They were born in exactly the same way you were. They simply choose not to live within your simplistic kindergarten binary boundaries.
