Called up to the Scotland squad, really pleased for him.

I’d like to see him get some game time for us.

But Irving isn't any of those players is he? He is more a Paqueta or JWP type of player.

Would prefer him to Cornet, Guido and even Aguerd based on yesterdays run out.
Depends on where you think he's best employed. On the left he is NOT preferable to Cornet. And actually, in the middle I'd sooner have Rodrigues. And in defence I'd rather Aguerd so now I've typed all that, I can see that I could have just said I disagree with everything you've said.

As others have said, I want to like him but that's not enough to get into the team.

The Premiership is EXACTLY his level, and would probably be able to settle into either of the two big guns there.
He is 25 now and if he was that good he wouldn't have been sent out on loan.

I'm guessing Celtic will sign him in lieu of the Cummings money.

These days it's a rare thing to announce player swaps they tend to happen in a different way.

Easthammer, I think I am right in saying the SFA are slow to act and rule is still drinking McEwans makes you available for selection.

Just visiting Scotland once qualifies you to play for them as they are that desparate.
Or ordering a McEwans lager in a pub.
Sorry, but this is no longer a valid criterion for playing for Scotland since 2022 when the Caledonian Brewery closed. Since then, McEwans, now owned by Marstons, has been brewed in Bedfordshire. Now  it  might qualify for an England cap were it not for the current England manager insisting that only beer brewed in Munich should count 😉

I'm sorry but that's complete rubbish. They didn't even announce they'd signed him. He appeared on the players list and was loaned straight out. Everyone was asking who he was. Last season he reappeared in the squad, again very quietly - and after playing preseason his profile was raised a bit and he became a bit of a thing with the fans singing for him.

I keep saying I'd like to see more of him, but it never happens. He seems a positive player to me, disrupting attacks and when on the ball looking to go forward. But he never seems to get a decent run. He is a regular to the Scotland squad now, but doesn't get game time there either.

Seeing as we sent him on loan and we don't play in The Premiership, I'd say you're bang wrong mate.

I seem to remember quite a fanfare/loads of back-slapping when he first signed, then it all rapidly went quiet.

Did Sullivan take a dislike to him (wrong agent?) and make it clear he had no future with us only to be advised to butt out as he was one for the future (leaving, naturally, his thoughts stinking the place out).

From the little of him I've seen, I felt he deserved more game time (late sub when a games won/early round cup games) to grow into a role.

I missed the first half today but by all accounts he had a good game and took his goal well. I have always liked him and like many on here I feel that he has deserved many more minutes on the pitch. Whilst acknowledging that he's not exactly a world-beater he seems like a very decent, effective all-round midfielder. Could he be like the proverbial new signing and have an important role in the Potter revolution?

Although, no wins, Scotland have played well in this top group of the Nations league. But yes, rubbish in the Euros. Hope he plays, good luck to him. Hasn't done much for us or anything wrong in the few minutes on for us,. I'd also like to see more of Irving.
