Delap

Post Ladysmith »

Just catching up with today’s footie and I have to say is that Delap from Ipswich looks like a player.

Shades of Ashton.?

with a heavy heart I don’t see Ipswich avoiding the drop and if we can avoid relegation then he maybe a prospect.

maybe not one for the top top clubs and might be well suited to us.

any thoughts?

We don’t need to be spending good money on these untried twenty year olds, Antonio still got at least another 2/3 seasons in him and when Fulkrig gets fit next April we’ll be banging the goals in.

Didn't his dad break Joe Cole's leg?

We don't seem to ever take the 'gamble' on players like this anymore. HG players from the championship have always served us well. Bowen, Cresswell, Antonio in recent years. Ok there have been some bad ones, but not many and they are never as costly as a mistake as the likes of Fullkrug and 95% of every other striker we have signed.

Appreciate Delap came from Man City but all his previous game time was from the lower leagues.

Also think Szomdics looks good. Bit of a Bellamy type player. Not sure if he would work for us mind.

Newcastle already sniffing around him so expect him to go there in January, he won't trade Ipswich for us as we're in a similar position in the bottom half.

Yeah, he's a decent player, Delap. Somebody will pick him up for a lot more money in the summer - if Ipswich get relegated.

He lacks a little bit of pace. But he's a good finisher, strong, occupies defenders, works hard (gets on with the high press etc) and doesn't mind carrying his front line. He would have been a decent foil for Bowen and Kudus/Summerville. But we missed the opportunity. Still, maybe we'll see Fullcrock in April.

Limited opportunities but still scored.

Another potential pearl our pearl diver couldn't find

With the exception of Guilherme who doesnt play anyway all our summer acquisitions could've been unearthed by reading a newspaper

Excellent pick up by Ipswich … another error by Pep to let him go
Was about 7 or 8 million less than Fullkrug with working Achilles tendons
Looked dangerous with limited opportunities against us

I’m not so sure, I think Sullivan could pull this off!
The only thing Sullivan's likely to pull off these days is his own dick.

Why does he appoint experts to deliver to the club's requirements then completely ignore them on the advice of a "mate" having a word in his shell-like?
