Interesting, he was a good player for us. But obviously too old now. No idea if he can be an ok backup for us.

Wolves are in talks with Craig Dawson about paying up the final six months of his contract to make him a free agent, talkSPORT understands. Dawson has been told he will not be in Wolves's revised 25-man Premier League squad for the rest of the season. Leicester and West Ham would potentially be interested in signing him as a free agent.

Dawson previously played for West Ham, initially on loan from Watford before his move was made permanent in 2021.He left the Hammers at the beginning of 2023 for Wolves, making 61 appearances in total since.

Yeah Forest have been awesome this season, he started in the team but they only won one once in those 5 starts.....his debut away at Anfield. Got sent off at Chelsea. Hasn't been able to get a sniff since. Forest have been superb but largely when he isn't playing so what does that tell you?
Rossal - This ain't hard mate, regardless of what ones opinion of him may be in recent times, and I'm not really a fan myself, but he's proved he's a capable operator at this level, so how about we just wait to see what Potter can get out of him? Potter must think he can or surely he wouldn't be back. No, he's not suddenly going to morph into Edgar Davis, but he may surprise us all, and it's not like we have many, or any, great players in his position.
Tend to agree. He's obviously a capable operator or wouldn't have had the career he has, but also has obvious limitations. All about if the manager can harness his strengths without exposing his weaknesses by formulating a system and gameplan that works with him in the side.

We're seeing the same thing with players that looked terrible under Lopetegui who was wedded to 'his' way, versus Potter who seems more open to assessing his availability and devising a plan that works for them.

Time will tell, but suspect JWP will prove himself useful, without being transformational or pulling up trees.

Worst thing about his return will likely be the loss of minutes from Orford.
Yeah I don't hate JWP at all and hope Potter can get him back to his best. The original point was me saying how much better players seem to get in our fans eyes once they leave us.......so my opinion on him was in reference to that. He will need to be much better than he was the last 6 months here to get near the side IMO and as you say coming towards the end of the season are we not better off giving minutes to Orford than JWP?  Unless we get a free kick 30 yards out!

I see that we offered Lorient £35m for Kroupal but the agent was reluctant to accept it.

Instead he went to Bournemouth for £10m

Actually rossal said the Forest midfield was hardly filled with superstars not that they were shit, as mad dog posted.

And I agree with rossal because it just goes to show what you can get out of competent professionals with good coaching and tactics.

Yes he loved the club and gave his all, but aside from the odd decent goal he didnt consistently perform enough for us. Wasnt good enough out wide, couldn't finish well enough to be a 10.....wasn't a 6 or 8.....

Yet now he has been gone a while all of a sudden he was a great loss to us.......same for JWP the last week or so, people forget him second half of last season......and the fact he hasn't troubled a Forest midfield hardly filled with superstars.
No-one has said that about Fornals. It was only pointed out he offered more than some of the players we currently have (true) and that GP would love his attitude (also true) and have got more out of him than Moyes. (also true)

Pretty much as expected. We aren't in danger of going down and will be handy when everyone is actually fit again so it was obvious Sullivan would try and get away with spending absolutely nothing. Ferguson is pretty cheap as a loan only.

In a way it's good we didn't usually do what we do and sign an Ings type older player the manager obviously didn't ask for on a mid length contract that instantly becomes a millstone round our necks as soon as the ink is dry. Would have liked a CB though. It's mad going into games with Cresswell and Coufal in a back three, but props to GP, he's actually managing to put together something that functions even with that sort of constraint. He even got Soucek and Irvin as a pair of relative strangers not in preferred positions to form a very decent partnership in midfield. I bet Sullivan is delighted he's lucked into a manager who can seemingly make decent teams out of dogshit rather than dogshit out of decent teams for once. Thinking of all that extra cash to roll around in on his marble floor.

Rest of the season we can hopefully see whether the young players can break into the team. Potter has shown he is not afraid to use them. I would have preferred a centre back or better midfield option but he is clearly giving JWP and Soler a chance to adapt to his system.
This season is a bust. Hopefully next season we can  have something good to watch that gets us results most weeks. Be lucky to get European spots even next year as I think other clubs are better and have depth and some of those currently struggling like Spurs and Man Utd will do better next year.

That is a problem that needs to be fixed for sure Manuel. I’ve become obsessed about central midfield and it’s inability to press and control games. Soucek and Soler and Irvine were no match for Caiecedo and Fernandez in terms of speed of movement and strength. It is a collective thing as a team mind so not just them but we struggle to match a lot of teams in that area of the pitch so invariably have to set up in a Moyesball style, deeper and resort to longer balls to the front men and not able to build enough thru the middle.

So lets hope Potter, Macaulay address it in the summer. We need a couple of players with strength, pace, legs.
