Whereabouts in Liverpool are you, I have family up that way (north west)
Knotty Ash. Been up here for about 6 years and met quite a few West Ham, including Scousers!

Re: Bovril
I used to go St Georges and York Hall regularly. Only stopped when I moved form Mile End to Bromley in 2011.
Not much chance of going now as I live in Liverpool!
Bovril at a cold night game in a shit northern town is delicious.

Re: Bovril
Bovril = poor people's food.
Marmite = Poor people's food.
What's not to like about either?
Oh, and don't forget the exotic Vegemite for those brave enough to acquire enough air-miles to enjoy it in it's native habitat. Caviar for the populist masses that is, and make no mistake.

Re: Bovril
Whitechapel was where my school (Stepney Green) took us swimming. Didn't go St George's much though I lived on the Island early 80's. Got vague memories of Beckton lido as well.

Re: Bovril
Bovril or mug of tea with a couple of slices of doorstep toast, after swimming at Poplar Baths.
Fucking lovely.
Didn't Golden Wonder used to do a Bovril flavoured crisp?

Re: Bovril
"boiled beef bones"?
How much greener can a product be from the current food chain?
Could kill off global warming at a stroke if we all switched to eating/drinking it.
Even the fast-food burger joints stop just after arseholes & eyelids in the make-up of their patties, but I'm sure would switch to incorporating Bovril if it meant they got more value out of a cow carcass.

Re: Bovril
Much prefer it on toast with butter to as a drink. It's like better tasting marmite frankly.

Re: Bovril
Had one the other week as it goes,working in the cold and the client brings out two steaming mugs of it, lovely on a bitterly cold day. Used to drink loads of it when on the South Bank at Upton Park.
