Evan Ferguson | Confirmed Loan remainder 24/25 season
https://www.whufc.com/news/west-ham-uni ... rgusonWest Ham United is pleased to announce the signing of Evan Ferguson on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion for the remainder of the 2024/25 season. The 20-year-old Republic of Ireland international is reunited with Head Coach Graham Potter, who gave Ferguson his senior debut for Brighton at the age of 16 years and ten months in August 2021.Potter also handed Ferguson his FA Cup and Premier League debuts at 17 later in the same 2021/22 season, during which he also appeared for Republic of Ireland at U21 level for the first time.Ferguson went on to net 16 goals for Brighton across the next two seasons under Roberto De Zerbi, including 12 in the Premier League, and become a senior Republic of Ireland international and goalscorer – all before his 20th birthday. Now, under the guidance of Potter and his former Brighton coaches Billy Reid and Bruno Saltor, the County Meath-born forward will look to show the same outstanding form in a Claret and Blue shirt.
“It feels good to be here. Seeing the stadium and being here today, I’ve got a very good feeling,” the new No34 told West Ham TV, speaking at London Stadium after putting pen to paper on Monday morning.“I can see and know how big West Ham United is. It was a big opportunity for me to come here. I know the gaffer well and look forward to working under him again.“I want to come in and do my best for the Club, score goals, and see where we get to.”Head Coach Potter is excited by the prospect of working with a player who he first worked with following Ferguson’s transfer from League of Ireland club Bohemians to Brighton four years ago.“I’m delighted we’ve been able to bring Evan in on loan until the end of the season,” said Potter. “He’s a player we obviously know very well, so I’m grateful to the Board for bringing him in.“He’s got plenty of quality attributes as a striker that we believe will benefit the group over the course of the coming months.“We’re excited to integrate him into the squad and see him in action in the weeks to come.”
Born in the seaside village of Bettystown in County Meath, near the town of Drogheda on Ireland’s east coast, in October 2004, Ferguson is the son of former Coventry City and Republic of Ireland U21 midfielder Barry Ferguson. The young Evan started out with the well-known St Kevin’s Boys club in Dublin, which had previously produced the likes of Damien Duff, Robbie Keane, Ian Harte and Robbie Brady, before joining the youth section of League of Ireland side Bohemians. He made his senior League of Ireland debut for the Gypsies at the age of just 14 in September 2019. In January 2021, amid huge interest from clubs across Europe, he joined Brighton. Having impressed for the Seagulls’ development side, Ferguson made his first-team debut for Potter in an EFL Cup win at Cardiff City, aged 16 years and ten months, in August of the same year. An FA Cup debut arrived in January 2022, followed by a Premier League debut against Burnley a month later. The following season, Ferguson made his Republic of Ireland debut in November 2022, then became the youngest Irishman to score in the Premier League when he netted at Arsenal. He ended the season with ten goals in 25 appearances in all competitions, including six in the Premier League, and also got his first senior goal for Ireland in a friendly against Latvia. The progress continued in 2023/24 with six more Premier League goals, his first competitive goals for his country, and praise from the Premier League’s record goalscorer Alan Shearer.Everyone at West Ham United would like to welcome Evan to London Stadium and wish him every success in Claret and Blue.

Re: Evan Ferguson | Confirmed Loan remainder 24/25 season
As I read on here earlier, I think he's got more of a Dean Asthon look about him.
I certainly hope so anyway, as we never got to see the best of Dean.
Might not get to see much of this one either if his loan spell goes too well!

Ha! I remember that as well beat both Brighton and Chelsea 3-1 back to back and didn’t deserve to win either of them.
Re: Evan Ferguson | Confirmed Loan remainder 24/25 season
Here he is not scoring against us two seasons ago. These are brief highlights but he was an absolute handful for our defence and could have had a hat trick. Looked very impressive then...

Nothing like Hugill.
If he stays fit, then he won't be playing for Rotherham in a few years time.

Re: Evan Ferguson | Confirmed Loan remainder 24/25 season
Screams nothing like Jordan Hugill either way
This is a bloke with a Premier League hattrick at 18 against a team who had just finished top 4 and were playing in the Champions League. He was being talked about as a potential £100m player. Jordan Hugill had 23 goals for Preston North End by the time he was 25.
Were it not for these injuries, we wouldn’t be in the conversation. Hopefully he stays fit, plays to his obvious ability and we are able to sign him permanently.

At least this is only a loan, a large fee and it would have screamed Jordan Hugill. Lets hope he hits form and bangs em in as I'm fed up watching us go 1 up only to lose

Surely some of Zouma's ones must be on clearance?

what made me laugh in the 'First Day At West Ham' video is when he's in the gym on an exercise bike and some cսnt's put on a westlife/boyzone track in the background

Re: Evan Ferguson | Confirmed Loan remainder 24/25 season
Aware of who he is but TBH don’t know a lot about him, not that he has stood out the times I have watched games with Brighton involved, but that’s not a lot
comments seem positive so hopefully he’s the goods.
Not really read the blurb on this deal but Is there an option to buy of any kind? If not you just know he will shine then go back to Brighton for them to use or cash in
Good luck to the Lad though.

If we can get him fit he's a talent, he reminds me of Dean Ashton, takes his shots early, good in the air and dare I say it, a nice touch for a big man

Also looks like Brighton have already replaced him.
There might just be a gentleman’s agreement that can be unwound but I reckon a conversation has taken place between the two clubs.
I think you might be right. They'll have done some sort of compromise between what we wanted and what they wanted. Likely depending on fitness and maybe performance. You can understand that being kept quiet as it would be detrimental to the player and the selling club.

Still, it might inspire more excitement than old man Ings and his plastic barnet trundling around the pitch.
Re: Evan Ferguson | Confirmed Loan remainder 24/25 season
Keeping him fit is the only issue.
Saw his cameo in their 7-0 drubbing at Forest. Understandable he was off the pace but did show flashes of what he could bring whuch was strength protecting the ball and pressuring CBs. If he remains fit I see Bowen, Summerville and Kudus benefiting from his ability to hold it up and distribute.
But lets see. He wont play 90 mins against Brentford I wouldnt think and may not start if Paqueta is back.

Re: Evan Ferguson | Confirmed Loan remainder 24/25 season
A forward was needed and he seems to fit the profile of player that we need. Bit of an odd one though if we don't have an option to buy as has been noted, he'll either do well and have his price jacked up or he'll do shit and we won't make any material gains on pitch.
Still, it might inspire more excitement than old man Ings and his plastic barnet trundling around the pitch.

Re: Evan Ferguson | Confirmed Loan remainder 24/25 season
its a loan - if he conks out injured we wont be forced to buy, if he's decent we'll probably be held to a high transfer fee to get him or he'll go back. It the deal that makes the most sense for a player like him who's got an injury history and who's attitude has been called into question.

Re: Evan Ferguson | Confirmed Loan remainder 24/25 season
Dont mind him as an option. A really wanted us to buy him a couple of seasons ago. Was looking one of the best all round striking talents. He hasnt come back the same player from injury, hasnt managed a run of games and if I'm honest looks lacking in pace, sharpness and confidence. At least Potter knows how he plays but I dont think he is making the difference up front.

At best this is an underwhelming signing, a bloke that has scored one goal all season on loan from the likes of fuckin Brighton - the fact you think this a 'good signing' is a new fucking low for this site. Get some ambition you cսnt. Even if this bloke plays games for us and is decent we'll never be able to sign him because we dont have the option. Chances are he'll be injured for 80% of his time here and it'll be a big old waste time. But it's OK, we might signing a young Scottish striker too. Fucking exciting eh?
Ha ha all you ever say is cսnt ....miserable no nothing toxic wanker

A 20 year old striker is hardly a reject or injury prone
Good signing as former young player of year
What is it with the constant negatively?
Toxic fans piss off and support Spurs
