West Ham does not let go of Mamady Diambou

Image

Looking for potential midfield reinforcements for next season, West Ham are still interested in Red Bull Salzburg's Malian international midfielder, Mamady Diambou, according to Africafoot. The English club wants to do everything possible this summer to sign former academy player Jean-Marc Guillou from Bamako.

The Hammers are not giving up on the Malian Eagle, having already made an interest in the 22-year-old during the last summer transfer window, before Red Bull Salzburg decided to extend his contract until June 30, 2028. This is a way to prevent the player from leaving as a free agent. West Ham is reportedly ready to make a €6 million offer for the Malian player.

West Ham's management has thus relaunched negotiations with their counterparts at Real Bull Salzburg to secure the services of Mamady Diambou. The player has been playing in Austria since 2021, including a loan spell with Swiss Super League side FC Lucerne from January to June 2023.

Having become an important part of Red Bull Salzburg's performance squad, Mamady Diambou was prevented from participating in the 2024 Olympic Games by his club.

Last winter, despite interest from clubs such as SC Freiburg, FC St. Gallen, and FC Lucerne, Salzburg decided to let the season finish before making any decisions. This season, the player has appeared in 32 matches in all competitions, scoring one goal.

Everton and West Ham make contact with £13m Leeds United defender’s representatives

TBR Football understand that a host of options are emerging for the former Barcelona star Junior Firpo, who has enjoyed an excellent campaign in the Championship.

Firpo is out of contract with Leeds United at the end of the season and the defender now looks set to leave after four years at Elland Road.

Leeds signed Firpo from FC Barcelona for £13m back in 2021 and the defender has helped them get back to the top-flight after two years in the Championship.

The South Yorkshire club had been hoping to renew the Dominican Republic international’s contract, however, the 28-year-old looks to have his eyes on a move elsewhere.

Leeds United are open to Junior Firpo staying, however, sources have told TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey that the left-back is looking at other options.

Everton, Crystal Palace and West Ham United are among the sides who have had contact with his representatives, but there is also interest in Italy and Spain.

The defender’s former club, FC Barcelona, need options on the left side and could consider bringing him back, whilst AC Milan, who are ready to move on from Theo Hernandez, have also looked at him.

A return to Spain at this stage looks very possible with another of his former clubs, Real Betis, keen, along with Spanish giants Atletico Madrid.

Firpo will be leaving Leeds on a major high after the Whites were crowned champions of the Championship with 100 points.

The defender has been a great servant for the club, having remained at Leeds despite suffering relegation and then play-off heartbreak across the last two seasons.

Now, after spending four years away from Spain, a return looks on the cards with Barcelona and Betis the two strongest contenders for his signature.
