Fordstar, now there’s a blast from the past.  A lot of these type of posters have blown thru the site over the last 20-25 or so years ( going back to BashtheBishop site ).   I dont take too much notice of their comments if there is no accompanying rationale for the opinion. And most of the site attention seekers typically dont back up their opinion with anything since its perhaps only intended to be controversial or obtuse for attention anyway? Alternatively an attempt to belittle or annoy others which is often to compensate for their own feelings of inadequacy or insecurities.  

These posters best ignored in the category of “this too shall pass”

I'd like to see Alvarez, Paqueta and Potts tonight in place of Soucek, Rodriguez and JWP.

Bit of bite, creativity and exuberance to our midfield.

However I expect it not to happen.

Potts I'm afraid will only ever be a squad player,

Not convinced he'll even be that.

The Championship is his absolute ceiling IMO.

You'd hope he gets a decent run out. Potter should know full well what he has and indeed doesn't have in JWP Guido and Soucek. I don't think we learn anything from trotting those three out again. Would be great for Potts to get substantial minutes at the start of a game. He's the one we need to find out more about.

You might be right on Potts E6 but such is our desperation and want for a solution to address that central midfield  that we are probably placing far too much hope on him. “He’s not the new messiah” etc..    

Lets see how he does tonight assuming he plays.  He looked promusing in his 15 min cameo last  game against the Mancs but it was after they had changed 9 players and the game was winding down.  I watched Potts 8-10 times for Pompey last season on my “Dodgy Dave” firestick and thought he acquitted himself well in one of the weaker championship teams. He was a real team player, worked very hard and displayed a very high level of passing accuracy along with willingness to press. His ability to move the ball quickly and accurately was probably the thing that stood out most. But he did also have games where he was on the periphery, anonymous and / or struggled with the physicality and too easily eased off the ball.  But I just hope with better players and passing options he can thrive and become an important player for us.  

Its WHO though. He could just as easily be written off as the messiah if he doesnt stand out or makes mistakes tonight. We shall see

Thought Potter wanted all the signings done early so he had a full pre season to work with the team.

Me replying to someone else to ask about whether striker is as big a priority as midfield, if we were to lose two players who have been the subject of reports saying they may want to leave, and then you jumping in purely to whinge about it and say we mustn't consider they might leave.

I never once said no discussion could be had about Paqueta or Alvarez in the team. You chucked a wobbler about talking of the possiblity of them not being in the team.

Yeah we can discuss the team without any of them in it. I'm sure one or two of them may leave. But it's the equivalent of sticking your hands in your ears and shouting if you want to completely discount the stated desire in the past of both players to move away this summer where none of those other players barring Aguerd have done that.

It's a bit short sighted to try and shut down any talk or discussion of certain players leaving and what effect it'll have, especially when our recruitment priorities will change depending on if they do or not. People have been discussing the possibilities all summer.

The fact is if either or both those players leave, which is a possibility, our need for midfielders becomes that much more of a priority. If they don't, then a striker can be prioritised more.

I never said they ARE leaving, as well you know. But it's undeniable there have been reports about both wanting to and if they do then that's a huge factor in the priorities of who we need to shift in and out. I'd love it if both stayed but we cannot just assume they are until the transfer window is shut and they are still our players. It's equally short sighted to just assume they are staying.
