If there's one shred of silver lining to any of this, it's that not just fans but the newspapers have turned on Sullivan. This article was absolutely scathing of our performance and situation but lays the blame mostly at the owner's feet:

https://www.theguardian.com/football/20 ... ham-potter

This at least feels different to me from years past where the focus hasn't been on the owners from the off. Even the mention of the pitch invader sounded less accusatory than the west-ham-fans-are-awful narrative.

The biggest issue is we cannot defend through the middle, and we are overrun in the midfield against  everyone. This has all been painfully obvious for some time. We have also exacerbated the problem by getting rid of midfielders while bringing in none. The only way we are scoring without control of the midfield is glaring defensive errors by the opponent or set pieces, and despite having one of the so-called best set piece specialists in JWP (1G,2A all last season), we get fuck-all form them. We did concede 3 from set pieces yesterday though.

You think a good captain would have made a difference last night? The root of the problem is the owners who don’t know how to run a modern day football club.

Forget the players and turn you anger on them. We need another Burnley.

I woke up this morning , well about an hour ago as I was at huge after party, completely numb to all of this. I despise Chelsea and to lose at home to them 1-5 should make me angry but I’m not. I’ve given up on this pile of shit. I don’t think even relegation will get rid of this poison of Sullivan and Brady and the way they have destroyed our club.

Move to the OS and we’ll move to the next level….what a joke.

Btw my 1-4 prediction wasn’t far off. Not that I’m proud.

The 5 that bothered to come and applaud the fans that had endured that shit were:
Bowen Soucek Kilman Diouf & Walker-Peters
2 of whom have been at the club 5 mins
Game was gone when he came on but thought Walker-Peters did ok especially linking up with Bowen when he was finally put in his correct position after we went to a back four
Diouf was probably our best on the night & Potts at least showed some energy in a midfield that was otherwise on life support

This is a good point and exactly why Potter is not a good fit for a club like this. He is all touchy feely and manages like a corporate HR manager. So anyone a bit gritty or with any sort of character is suppressed or got rid of. The worst thing you can do to West Ham and especially in a relegation fight.

Just knowing Sullivan he will leave it too late to get rid of him and will do too little to fix things when he does.
Let’s be honest here. All of us were saying Cresswell Coufal and Antonio shouldn’t have been renewed and no one was lamenting it when they were.
it’s the fact that NOTHING came in to replace any of them and where we have brought players in they have all been downgrades aside from maybe Diouf.
It's 1 of the 2 things with it. Many of us did want to move them on on the proviso they'd surely be adequately replaced which hasn't happened. And if that wasn't going to be the case, then don't shove them all out the door, keep a couple until the transition of players calms down but with some continuity of standards that should always be demanded of the Team. All that wealth of experience and professionalism replaced with fairy dust shit.
Exactly that. We all believed we’d get something younger and better to replace them, along with the midfield. And they gave us absolutely fuck all. All they got was the two players (one of whom looks horrendous, HORRENDOUS) they could bully other teams into selling, and two Fuckjng freebies who aren’t even first team players.

With hindsight Fabianski and Cresswell would absolutely be right in the first team- and let us not forget one is at STOKE as in no other prem team wanted him and the other is unemployed. That speaks volumes about how poor we are. Two players who would walk back in couldn’t find jobs in the same division. Just like JWP - can’t get a kick when on loan and because we are so bad, gets recalled and apparently is our lynchpin. That is how fucking poor the quality of our squad is. It’s championship level players across most of the park.

Our players become BETTER by not playing. Mav was consensus the weak link last season in a defence of weak links by the way. Because he’s not been involved in the shitshow he’s become our defacto best defender just from sitting on the bench.

We are in a world of shit. A world of shit. Our squad is full of misfits with barely a decent player between them. Bowen and AWB, Paqueta is a shell of himself. The rest aren’t worth SHIT. Poor to a man.

Do they actually not realise just how dangerous this practice is where it's piss easy for local rival fans to purchase tickets in our so called Home ends for the sake of the lira??

lost our home and been sold a false dream in a soulless bowl. And the board don't care. The ECL win covered the cracks for 6 months but all  Brady can talk about is what a success it’s all been for “shareholders” RIP the real West Ham, this corporatised version is fucking SHIT

Correct

I posted the same on another thread.

The first three mentioned at least

They got the club and the fans and would run through brick walls for the them

A big influence in the dressing room and they would certainly have something to say in the dressing room about this shit.

Bowen and Soucek are the only two old school left now in my eyes.

It's not just the dressing room either, it was also dished out on the pitch. Who remembers Fabianski rollocking Paqueta I think it was in one game (Fulham at Home?) walking towards him screaming not to lose concentration and lax passing or the like. We won the game 3-2, but it was the mindset, do not drop your standards!

It's all far too easy for these johhny come lately who dont really care, certainly not like the old guard did bar say Bowen, Fullkrug. Even Lopetegui had the right idea by gripping up Todibo by the neck..

I left before half time, went with the Mrs who is recovering from shoulder surgery. She was in pain I looked at her and thought we must be mad... Why the fuck are we sitting here with her in pain watching these useless cunts.. Life is too short to be wasting our time here... Shame cause it was OK before the game a few beers in the Bat and Ball seeing some friends from. Centreforce a bit of a sing song in the concourse... Then the fucking football.. I can't believe we renewed, should be something we look forward to and just feels like a pain in the arse when we have to go.

As for the keeper wtf possessed him to spend the money there while there are gaping holes ahead of him everywhere... He looks so unimposing.. Areola is better..

Probably Chelsea fans & won’t be back for the next game

True that noticeably more tourists last night
Will be more white seats as the season goes on
Half the crowd had escaped well before the end
About 5 or 6 players bothered to come and applaud the 5,000 that were still in the stadium 3 mins after the final whistle
Bowen , Soucek & Walker-Peters among them

No surprise that both Bowen and Soucek are 2 of the few that bothered, the 2 who consistently produce goals and give everything for the cause and care the most. Most of the others couldn't give a flying a fuck.
