The 30 million price tag will be 10 million come January or possibly less as his stock continues to fall. He will be desperate for a move by that point as the penny would of finally dropped.

I hope this ends the saga now and we don't go back in for him in January. He would be a good addition but he would not dramatically change our fortunes, so for me he's not worth all this drama. I actually like the idea of the "transfer committee" or whatever it is that we've created so long as they are able to work together. If they continue the work from the tail end of the transfer window, then I sincerely hope we have targets identified and start our business as early as possible in January and next summer.

Should have joined us when he had the chance. I think Maguire is a better player than most people give him credit for. But he's clearly out of favour at Man Utd, with Ten Hag's system, and it is affecting his sharpness, playing time and confidence. Too late now - we spent half the estimated money on Mavrapos who looks a good fit for us and is a lot cheaper in terms of wages. So Maguire only has himself to blame - he was badly advised and should have come to London. There aren't too many other clubs that can afford him. Can maybe see him joining the Saudis on Tyneside - or even the full Saudi league (where he won't fit in culturally and will just live inside a hotel complex) unless he's prepared to swallow a huge pay cut.

Easy to comment from a distance, as we don’t know what sort of money and other factors are involved, but these guys are ludicrously rich and set for life already. Shows the measure of a player when they refuse to move for whatever reason. If he’s a serious player he’d want to be playing regularly and proving Ten Hag wrong. Very clear that he’s not getting back in the Man Utd team when a left back gets picked ahead of him at centre back. Southgate continues to be a knob though. Didn’t like the questions about Foden wanting to play more centrally so reverts to “Pep is the best manager in the world and plays him on the left rather than through the middle”. That’ll be the same “Pep” who hardly gives any time time to Phillips, yet Gaweth picks him. Cock.

lowlife 8:28 Thu Sep 14 I read that there was a clause in his contract that meant he was owed money by ManU to compensate for the wages he'd lose by moving to us, ManU refused to let him go unless he waived the payment he was due but he didn't want to do that so he stayed.

I'd be depressed if this was the kind of player who is too good for West Ham. Fortunately, he only thinks he is too good for West Ham

What did Wokegate expect the sweaties fans to do ? Give Slabhead a round of sympathetic applause for the own goal and a standing ovation on 90 mins ? The game is not quite that sanitised just yet. The problem Maguire has now is that barring injuries he won't get the chance to get it out his system and play himself back into any kind of form. If he is not playng his fitness will also be lost and he will struggle to get any kind of move come January. He could end up in a similar position to Lingard in a year or so. He will probably end up piling on the pounds and end up looking like a poor mans Sam Alardyce.

The lack of awareness displayed by him and his agents/advisers during the window and Gareth fucking Southgate on Tuesday beggars belief. He should have moved to us or to someone else, of that we can be sure. Very poorly advised Then, having got away with selecting him for the squad and then selecting him for the competitive fixture to the extent that the noise around him died down, Southgate could have left him on the bench for the second half of a friendly when he had 2 youngsters he could've had a look at. Instead he puts him on as a 'fuck you' and then cries like a bitch because he was ridiculed by the crowd, played like a cսnt and scored an own goal. You did that, Mr Southgate. You and you alone

Absolute knob in not coming to us. Could have been a bit of a cult hero I reckon. Hope we’re not back in for him in January. I think that a big reason Southgate keeps picking him is that he puts players feelings above, or at least on a par with, everything else. Ludicrous that he’s being selected consistently when there’s other players far more deserving. Maybe Gareth doesn’t like his favourite players having their feelings hurt, and gives less of a shit to anyone in not that group.

I would suggest that whoever is advising him hasn't got his footballing career or indeed best interests at heart. Moving to us should of been a nobrainer as it would of been the perfect opportunity to resurrect his faltering career and get him playing regularly but now he's stuck at a club that were desperately trying to offload him and with a manager that clearly doesn't rate him. How the move would of worked out for us is open to debate and we may well of dodged a bullet but who knows ? Maguire strikes me as a bloke who isn't to bright tbh.

I don’t care we didn’t get him but he is a good player that the world is against at present, he was a fool as a footballer not to have come to Moyes.

Absolutely dodged a bullet. The bloke is shot to pieces and has a stink on him he will never be able to shake now. I do feel for him somewhat as it’s a bit OTT. Maybe some karma for Greece? Southgate really isn’t helping anyone by constantly pig headedly picking him and playing him just to prove a point. Sure he’s been a great servant but his time has been and gone as an international player- well it should have, anyway.

Regardless of if you think Maguire could have done a good job for us or not, we have most def dodged a bullet here, such is the ridicule of this player now it would have been like signing someone from the circus and it would have been a big factor every time he/we played. Even waistcoat has said he has never seen anything like it.

Think Kudus is going to close our purchasing this window with Ings hopefully going to Everton.

We won't be back in for him - unless it's a loan. We've spent two-thirds of the money we earmarked for him in transfer fees - and his wages would be huge on top of the new signings. Mavrapos is here now. So we've filled the key CB vacancy. We need a back up striker who, unlike Ings, can actually run more than ten yards without wanting to get an Uber. Ings' legs have gone - especially with the hard-running style we play. He's a fox-in-the-box sub and little else: unless you play two proper strikers upfront. We need somebody who can come in when Antonio is injured or knackered, as he often is, and do a similar job to Michail. I'd try to tempt Belotti away from Roma on loan. He's a very different striker to Scamacca, and hasn't fitted in under Mourinho. He'd be a good, hard-running back up for Antonio, and is a better finisher.

Why? I mean, just....why? Makes no sense from a footballing perspective, given that we're claiming to be a progressive, forward-looking club. I can only assume that, when Moyes was manager at Man U, he promised to "look after" Maguire (and a few others there) if their careers stalled. Fuck all to do with improving West Ham and all to do with "keeping his word".
