Tv Box sets thread again - recommendation pls

Four episodes in to the new Night Manager series.  Thought the first episode was a cracker, totally grabbed me.  2,3 and 4 have been ok but not quite hitting the heights of the first.  Watching last two tonight.  Worth watching just for the lovely Camila Morrone.

I'm struggling a bit with the second season. Pacing feels all wrong. Reminds me of when they ran out of source material in Game of Thrones, and suddenly it was like the story was being told on Turbo with things that previously took a whole episode happening in a few minutes.

I'll finish watching it....but not a patch on Season 1 after two episodes of season 2.

Yea it's not even close to season 1 but that was a very high bar, but it is 100% worth sticking with.

btw The Knight of The Seven Kingdoms is a total yawn fest. Rather watch paint dry. 

Thought they're actually quite funny, only watched a couple so far though. As long as you're not expecting it to be Game of Thrones in depth and action you'll probably enjoy it

Strangely enough I am working my way my through my old S&H box sets.  Hasn't aged as much as I thought it might although Huggy may have been replaced by Google and mobile phones these days!

Just following on from my comments previously about brilliant old Michael Parkinson interviews on this thread, I think, unless it was on podcasts, as we haven't got a "good books" thread I highly recommend Michael Parkinsons Autobiography which I recently purcased on Amazon along with the excellent "Parky's People: Intimate insights into 100 Legendary Encounters".  Basically snippets of many a legendary interview.  It's an absolutely outstanding read and very funny, highly recommend if you like a chuckle.

I'm as old as the hills and could never quite get into The Sweeney as a kid.  Was more into Starsky & Hutch The Professionals and TJ Hooker, although that was more to do with Heather Locklear!

Finished The Night Manager.  As good as it was I didn't really like episode 6, but I'll keep my reasons to myself until everyone else has seen it.

Just tried watching The ‘Burbs. It’s the perfect example of everything that is wrong with Hollywood. How the fuck they can take an already great film and turn into such a soulless piece of woke - box ticking shit that is completely void of any of the characteristics that made the film a cult classic is utterly astonishing.

I always watch Minder, amazing how they didn't realise that Toby "Jug" Johnson had already appeared in a previous episode as Godfrey 8 years earlier 

I can't really watch Minder now, find it very dated and a bit corny/awkward. Loved it back in the day, once that theme music came on...I think the characters made Minder, but could you say there were any likeable characters in The Sweeney?

Yep both Jack Regan and Carter are likeable.

On the odd time I watched it I couldn't buy into them, but will bow to your better judgemet.

The Beauty ...all I can say is fucking hell.....it's a must watch.  Obviously heavily influenced by The Substance.

Don't forget the classic cars and cardboard boxes.

Swiss, yes mate. It's very well done. Bit difficult to watch as a middle aged male and not feel a bit uncomfortable as its about teenagers (played by actors in their twenties) acting in the worst possible way that teenagers can but its a brilliantly shot show. The third season is due out soon but there's some amazing acting in it, especially by Zendaya and a couple of others.
