Re: Ron Greenwood and England
Wasn't his assistant the defence-minded Don Howe? I seem to remember at the time feeling Howe's influence was greater than it should have been.

Re: Hammers United Protests | Who's Going?
So I've received a message today from West Ham encouraging me to relist my ticket for Brentford if I can't make it. I thought this happened only if the game was sold out. So are they trying convince me that the game is sold out so if I'm thinking of boycotting I won't bother? Or have they changed t...

Re: Do you believe in God? How would you explain your beliefs?
I do believe in God but couldn't explain it, and understand why people find it difficult, or impossible. I didn't come from a church-going family. It's just a few things that have happened over the years that have given me a faith - which I know is a bit of a get-out, but that's just the way it is f...
Re: Nuno IN
This is all very depressing and I can't get remotely excited about this appointment - although I'm glad Potter's gone and, given our ownership, he might be the best we're likely to get. I literally can't remember the last time I enjoyed a game at the LS and wish I had listened to my sane self and no...

Re: What style of play do you want from our next manager?
I desperately want to look forward to games again, so to see more attacking and a style that's exciting to watch (some of the time, at least). Whether we have the players for that at the moment I'm not sure. We seem to be in this endless cycle of picking the wrong managers, finding ourselves in dang...

Re: Potter Out
Of the potential replacements for Potter being mentioned (assuming Potter goes), I'd prefer Bilic. He gave us our best season in recent times, and in his second season had probably the hardest job of any WH manager, having to deal with a new and unpopular home ground, everything unfamiliar for both ...

Re: Hammers United Protests | Who's Going?
I went along at 12.45 and guessed a couple of thousand. But I'm pretty useless at guessing crowds. As said, people were arriving as some were leaving, so it would be difficult to get an accurate figure. Probably won't do any good but what else can you do?

Re: West Ham vs Palace | PL | 20.9.25 | Predictions and Match Thread
Can't get excited about having Nuno as our next manager. Anything's better than Potter though. Can we not get a manager in who can give us some decent football to watch? No, seems to be the answer, so Premiership survival it is. Again.

Re: West Ham vs Spurs | PL | 13.9.25 | Predictions and Match Thread
Quite enjoyed the first half, seeing us move the ball much more quickly and getting forward. If we'd had a centre forward perhaps we would have had an end product to some decent approach play. Right from the start of the second half, Tottenham are much better, we are much worse. So the two different...

Re: Graham Potter
I may not be happy with Potter but I certainly don't wish we still had Moyes. Everyone seems to realise that West Ham fans want to see a better style of football then give us Moyes, Lopetegui and Potter. It's incomprehensible - well, it would be at most clubs.

Re: Ozzy Osborne brown bread
Saw Black Sabbath in 1970 at the King's Head hall, Romford, just before they went to America. Ozzie (although I didn't really know who he was then) was the first person I ever heard swear on stage. My young self was quite taken aback at the time. RIP.

Re: AC signs for the Daggers
I started going to Dagenham a bit the last couple of seasons, preparing for the day I give up my West Ham season ticket (getting ever nearer). Disappointed they got relegated, same league as Hornchurch who are nearer. This might get me back to Dagenham.

Re: West Ham vs Southampton | PL | 19.4.25 | Predictions & Match Thread
I can't remember leaving a game so angry. I was happy with Potter's appointment, and although disappointed recently have been content to give him the summer and next season. But he's lost me now. He made, what, 5 substitutions, and every one of them made us weaker. He took off all three of our st...

I don't know much about the U21s, but I watched them against Dagenham recently and thought Swyer looked very good: quick, stylish and comfortable on the ball.

Anybody know why he played Cresswell ? He is done, how is he still collecting a pay check ffs. we also had Emerson on the field too and the young kid on Scarles on the bench. I know it’s only Ings but why didn’t he start? we offered nothing going forward. I very much doubt we will set up that way a...

Re: David Lynch is dead
Loved his stuff. The horror was often infused with humour, most of what he did was, and I don't think it was pretentious at all, although I rarely understood it. One of my favourite films of his is "The Straight Story" which I seem to remember included in the opening credits something like...

Re: West Ham vs Fulham | PL | 14.1.25 | Predictions, Lineups and Match Thread
Fuck all this moaning. I just actually enjoyed a west ham game for fiesta time in bloody ages. It was FAR from prefect but night and day to recent performances. We actually passed the ball and finally we actually pressed a team rather than just sit back and let them do what the fuck they want. G...

Re: West Ham vs Liverpool | 29.12.2024 | Predictions & Match Thread
So many of the goals we concede come from losing the ball in midfield, or sometimes further forward, through poor control or, more often, poor passing. Is there a single player in our squad that could be described as a good passer of the ball?

Re: We need to talk about...our home support
After 62 years I think this is going to be my last season going to West Ham. I've threatened this many times before but this feels different, and it's not just that we're not doing particularly well, because I'm kind of used to that. It's a number of things just adding up:knowing that while Sullivan...
