Re: Daily Quiz anyone?
13 thanks Zico Although I guessed you wanted Mark Twain as the answer to Q3. I believe the real answer is that it is unattributed. Some people will have Oscar Wilde as the answer but that is probably just as doubtful as Mark Twain. This has led to a few arguments when I ran quizzes at my old golf c...

Re: Saving Pie and Mash - the Guardian
I grew up on Pie & Mash and a lot of other stuff that was cheap back then but which today would probably be sold as exotic high-end fare. For example, brown shrimps which came off the fisherman's van that came round on a Sunday Night. Brown shrimps were cheap compared to prawns and were purchase...

Re: The Official Politics Thread (enter at your own risk)
It’s no surprise that people want change when our present government took power with a mandate from a minority of the electorate. If we change government though because of the FPP system we will still be governed by a party that most of us will have voted against. Unless or until we adopt a system ...

Re: Daily Quiz anyone?
I did 26 of them, I think I might have got the rest eventually, but it was taking me a while and I had other things that I had to attend to. Maybe there should have been a time limit. Had it been at a pub quiz it would have needed a lock-in for me to complete it
Anyway, thanks Zico

Re: West Ham vs QPR | FA Cup | 11.1.26 | Predictions & Match Thread
Glad we won, BUT let's be honest, our performance was no better than those that led to defeats in the league. We are a bang average side and we struggled against a mid-table Championship side. And if and when we get relegated, we also will end up mid-table, On the positive side, we scored two good ...

Possibly, I don't remember much more than he took over from the great Ken Brown. A big act to follow but Cushley really wasn't up to it despite appearing to be a decent bloke.

Re: Is Max Kilman the worst centre back in your memory - name worse?
How many of you remember John Cushley? 38 games between 1967 - 70, Scottish played for Celtic before joining us. Not the biggest centre back well under 6ft. I once shared a treatment room at the Boleyn Ground with him and the great Bobby Moore, and to this day, I would claim I was not the worst de...
