Would you offer Moyes a new contract?
Would you offer Moyes a new contract?
"With David Moyes contract finishing at the end of the season and we fast approach the half way stage of the season, would you offer Moyes a new contract? (Might be worth doing as a WHO Poll). I personally wouldn’t, interesting to see Potter as huge favourite for our next manager and him turning down other roles (although could be waiting for England). Note Alonso sitting in the second favourite."

Re: Would you offer Moyes a new contract?
"If you don't see or like the skills of Paqueta and Emerson you probably should move on to another sport or team. LJC, in my humble opinion, its we have Moyes and he is doing a sound jobb, fuck knows what a better manager will do for us. That old one bird in the hand nonsense."
Re: Would you offer Moyes a new contract?
Well what I was talking about was the entertainment value of Paqueta and Emerson’s attacking play. Interesting that you think we should play more defensively on the left but I don’t. Paqueta has one of the highest stats for tackles apparently and does infuriate as well as entertain. if you have a LB and LM that gets into the box and creates and scores then the rest of the team need to cover them until they can get back. I’m more worried about Aguerd’s shortcomings frankly. I’d be happy to see the Greek given a chance…
Re: Would you offer Moyes a new contract?
"Will tell, I have to disagree with you on Paqueta and Emerson on the left. For every goal we score from the left we concede at least 1. They are poor defensively there, several goals have come from a ball over or out of Emersons reach.Villa will go for it there. Surprisingly most of our goals have come from the right. Paqueta is wasted on the left."

Re: Would you offer Moyes a new contract?
The argument that Moyes has spent the most money in our history seems a bit misleading when you consider that managers at most premier league clubs have also done the same over the past few years. Transfer fees rise every year in football so it’s almost a given that if a current manager has been at a Premier league club for a few years they will have spent the most money. In 5 years time another manager will have spent the most money due to the rising fees. 5 years ago we spent 100 million under Pellegrini which at the time was also the most we had ever spent. We went on to finish 10th but didn’t get pass the 4th round of either cup including losing to Wimbledon. So it’s not always simple to say spending money should guarantee success. Look at Man Utd and Chelsea recently. We have had one bad season in the league in 3 years but finished it with a cup win that gave a large percentage of our fan base their greatest memory since supporting West Ham. The football at times can be negative and bland but as far as results go I think the majority of our fan base have been satisfied with what we have achieved over the past 3 years.
Re: Would you offer Moyes a new contract?
RM - why should I be telling you that? So you can say it’s unrealistic or drag up a stupid stat to back up your argument. It’s such a cop out asking who people want to replace him with as the variables are so vast. Mine was a simple yes or no answer.
Re: Would you offer Moyes a new contract?
"RM10-we have someone to recruit a manager he's called Tim Steidten, he signed some good players who you had never heard of. You'd also never heard of Paqueta when he signed for us. There are probably loads of coaches out there that you've never heard of. But Tim Steidten will know them because that's what he's getting paid a lot for. So it isn't for us to suggest it's for us to trust the bloke employed to do so."
Re: Would you offer Moyes a new contract?
LJC- shouldn’t you be telling me who the alternative is to Moyes to please you? I’m pleased that I have enjoyed the last 3 seasons in Europe and winning a trophy so not part of the Moyes out brigade at present.

Re: Would you offer Moyes a new contract?
Man Utd didn’t lose 9 in a row under Fergie but they did go 9 games without a win (Admittedly most of them were draws) during his 3rd season in charge when they finished 11th. He definitely came close to being sacked until they won the cup in 1990.

“ goose 8:56 Fri Oct 20 Re: Would you offer Moyes a new contract? Errrrmm 9 defeats in a row really?” ——————- Apologies. My memory playing tricks on me. It was actually 7 games without a win. That brought on a fans protest to get Ferguson sacked.
Re: Would you offer Moyes a new contract?
"Have a look at other teams that have spent similar amounts of money over the same period and tell me if we're achieving what we should be after that level of outlay. If you look at this article on spending, published last month, https://www.3addedminutes.com/sport/football/manchester-united/the-premier-league-biggest-net-spenders-over-last-five-years-including-man-utd-aston-villa-4282402 We are 9th. having been outspent by Villa, Bournemouth, Spurs and Newcastle, who have won nothing, in that time.. Although Newcastle have made Champions League this year, unlike Tottenham."

Re: Would you offer Moyes a new contract?
LJC My point was not comparing Moyes to Ferguson. It was merely pointing out that if Man Utd fans had got their way Ferguson would have been sacked midway through his 3rd season after 9 defeats in a row. I reckon Moyes is in a good position to win more cups and get a 4th season in Europe. If he’s as shit as some of you think he won’t be here next season will he?
Re: Would you offer Moyes a new contract?
"Most possession or attacking stats were around the bottom of the table. Set plays though we’re ace. I’m not complaining about being a threat from dead balls, we’ve always been rubbish at them."

I don’t think pellegrini had the quality of players we do now to be as good at actually keeping the ball. Plus the Spanish dishwasher in goal cost him his job more than anything else.

Re: Would you offer Moyes a new contract?
"I don't agree with the dinosaur line. Defending well and attacking fast and free not putting exaggerated importance on maintaining possession is a style of football that works well in the modern game. This is similar to Klopp and Liverpool. Whats more having seen us trying to compete in the Premier, I think it is the only way we can compete. Yes it would be great if we could have the balance more towards attacking. For me that is Moyes aim. We're working towaethat. I think some people exaggerate the quality or entertainment. I find some entertainment in most of our games and quite a few are very exciting, good entertainment. I look forward to every game. RM10s question is valid. I feel many on here slagged Pellegrini the same as they now do Moyes. Two managers with different styles. You want more possession from Moyes, but Pellegrini aiming for that was no good either. Probably same for Bilic. It's just slag the manager off whatever they do. So who and what do you want? Hammer and Pickle, I smoke in petrol stations."

Re: Would you offer Moyes a new contract?
"I'm enjoying huge swathes of our play now and I'm loving being a West Ham supporter. Paq and Emerson are worth the price of admission on their own. Even against Liverpool and Man City I felt okay with our performances. I actually have only come away disappointed once this season and that was against Newcastle who are supposedly flying. Below us in the table of course but flying nonetheless. I had a heavy heart when we appointed Moyes again I'll freely admit, especially as I have a couple of Sunderland supporting fans who HATE him. Some of you should in my humble opinion need a bit of a holiday from supporting us. As an irritatingly optimistic person I'm happy enough with David Moyes, thank you."
Re: Would you offer Moyes a new contract?
"scott_d 4:03 Fri Oct 20 Did you miss that Moyes has spent the most money in our history? Do you think it's a coincidence that we've had relative success after spending the most money in our history? Have a look at other teams that have spent similar amounts of money over the same period and tell me if we're achieving what we should be after that level of outlay. We have under achieved given the spend, something that is obvious to almost anyone that isn't a thick fucking cսnt. You can chalk off the 'he saved us' shit too, his record was pretty similar to 'terrible' Pellegrini, we stayed up due to a bit of luck and thats all. But most of all, watch some fucking games. The PRIMARY FUCKING PURPOSE of going to the footy is to be FUCKING ENTERTAINED something he hasn't delivered despite being given almost endless funds. The cսnt needs to fuck off. I'd sack him tomorrow. Wait until our results start tailing off, and they will, you'll change your tune again I'm sure, you flip flopping clown. Fuck off."

Re: Would you offer Moyes a new contract?
If you don't enjoy watching the football currently being played under Moyes how are you anti West Ham? You must surely be working from a point of view where you've seen and enjoyed a much better attitude to play the game with an attacking intent as your main attribute.
