Well what I was talking about was the entertainment value of Paqueta and Emerson’s attacking play. Interesting that you think we should play more defensively on the left but I don’t. Paqueta has one of the highest stats for tackles apparently and does infuriate as well as entertain. if you have a LB and LM that gets into the box and creates and scores then the rest of the team need to cover them until they can get back. I’m more worried about Aguerd’s shortcomings frankly. I’d be happy to see the Greek given a chance…

The argument that Moyes has spent the most money in our history seems a bit misleading when you consider that managers at most premier league clubs have also done the same over the past few years. Transfer fees rise every year in football so it’s almost a given that if a current manager has been at a Premier league club for a few years they will have spent the most money. In 5 years time another manager will have spent the most money due to the rising fees. 5 years ago we spent 100 million under Pellegrini which at the time was also the most we had ever spent. We went on to finish 10th but didn’t get pass the 4th round of either cup including losing to Wimbledon. So it’s not always simple to say spending money should guarantee success. Look at Man Utd and Chelsea recently. We have had one bad season in the league in 3 years but finished it with a cup win that gave a large percentage of our fan base their greatest memory since supporting West Ham. The football at times can be negative and bland but as far as results go I think the majority of our fan base have been satisfied with what we have achieved over the past 3 years.

Man Utd didn’t lose 9 in a row under Fergie but they did go 9 games without a win (Admittedly most of them were draws) during his 3rd season in charge when they finished 11th. He definitely came close to being sacked until they won the cup in 1990.

It was merely pointing out that if Man Utd fans had got their way Ferguson would have been sacked midway through his 3rd season after 9 defeats in a row. Defending well and attacking fast and free not putting exaggerated importance on maintaining possession is a style of football that works well in the modern game.
