"Our boy Bowen starts in 1 of the warm-up games to try and impress before heading to the Euros. Have a good one, golden boy. 7.45pm KO https://twitter.com/England/status/1797683179505275164/photo/1"

We weren’t ’careful what we wished for’ Of course none of them have recommended Moyes for ANY of the vacancies that have opened up

"Really want to know why we have pissed off all the news outlets. Everything is negative about us. Seems they have little digs, for example when Everton go for a Man City player who now turned shit they stick up a pic of him in a West Ham Shirt."

"Yeah I feel the charm offensive has really started with a few of the other players. Namely Palmer, Grealish and TAA. I agree Palmer should go but not sure about the other two given the season they've had (although no denying he's got a little x factor) and the fact they don;t really fit the team respectively. People get obsessed by TAA's hollywood passes and overlook other parts of his game. He might go because of 'versatiliy', but we are in big trouble if he's in the side against a top team- particularly in midfield and I can't see him keeping an Mbappe quiet at all."

"I have same feeling Scorch, although i disagree about Maddison can't see him going. Him and Gallagher are behind 2 or 3 others for their roles so don't really see how they get minutes. The only way Gallagher goes is if he doesn't take Shaw for me. My 7 to leave behind would be Trafford Quansah Dunk Jones Madison Gallagher Toney Gallagher goes if Shaw doesn't"

"These are a couple of the rankings by someone called Louise Taylor (who she?) in the Guardian Jarrod Bowen A slightly disappointing night when it didn’t quite happen down the right for the winger. 5 Cole Palmer Converted a penalty – his first senior England goal. Not at his very best but a potentially class act. 7 Not sure what she was watching but suspect Bowen will be one of the seven dumped. To be honest if he makes the 26 he will be about 4th in line and will spend the month in the hotel, training & watching. In that case I'd rather he stays home and has a proper break and is in for preseason on day 1"

I have a feeling Bowen is going to miss out. Which would be unfair given the season he’s had and amount of goals he has scored from two separate positions. He’s the one not being eulogised about unlike most of the others who played last night. Apparently TAA and Grealish and Palmer were wonderful. Even props given for the other debutants. Don’t know if him and Gallacher playing the full 90 was good or not for his prospects. But my instinct says Gallacher is going. One thing quite clear is that last night’s team aside from Pickford are not the starters. From that I think you can likely assume Maddison and Mainoo are both going. What I am sure he will do is take a couple of injured players (one being Shaw) who will barely feature or not be fit and therefore a total waste of a squad place. England managers never learn. At least you could understand it more when it was a game changer like Rooney.

"""I think Gallagher will def go as Henderson and Phillips have fallen by the wayside so not overloaded in that area"" I disagree, there are players better than him in both aspects of the midfield role Defensive Rice, Mainoo and Wharton are all better defensive minded players and all better on the ball than him. Cant even throw TAA in there as better on the ball than him plus threat of set piece delivery Attacking Bellingham Foden Palmer I just don't see point of taking him when he isn't going to be called upon realistically. Same for Madison and Dunk IMO. Sadly i also think Bowen could be under threat for same reasons. Assuming he will take Gordon, between Bowen and Grealish for who he thinks is better option from the bench"

"Wansteadman A distinct possibility, yes. It would be 2 major Tournaments running he'd miss out on if he isn't called up to this one, especially after the season he's just had for us (straight off the back of the previous decent season). So yes, we want him to do well enough so to not allow doubts to creep in. Not only that though, as a proud Englishman and Hammer, I want to see him (and others) called up to play for England whenever, especially for Tournaments. With our unique successful deep connection our Club has with England you'd think it was a no brainer to wish and see our players represent the National Team too. Player's can get injured at any time, so no point dwelling on the rare chance it happens whilst on International duty, as bad as Ashtons career ending injury was that clearly badly scarred all of us too when it happened."

"Kane missed the last one or two games for Bayern with a back niggle so Southgate probably wand to get him out there which is not unreasonable. I think Gallagher will def go as Henderson and Phillips have fallen by the wayside so not overloaded in that area. With Eze, it could well be a straight choice between him and Grealish."

Golden boot 2 goals v Tunisia 3 v Panama incl one that hit him on the arse and went in the far corner Penalty v Colombia Missed from a yard v Croatia in the semi final Euros 2020/1 Anonymous in the final and was blowing out his arse after an hour World Cup 2022 Penalty v France took out a low flying aircraft The man seems destined never to win anything. Even at Bayern Southgate still hasnt developed a back up so will have to play every minute in Germany

"Was bit of a dull watch, yet again a crop of madly talented players look pretty dull and uninspiring under the watch of Southgate. Few things i took from last night... - Why didnt he pick Henderson or Ramsdale in goal? and why did he bring Kane on after 60 mins....what do you learn/gain from that when Toney is on the bench. - Braithwaite.....most fans would have him starting alongside Stones at the tournament. Southgate not rate him and leaving him behind? If last night is to go by, you'd think he is 5th choice CB with Konsa and Gomez ahead of him for versatility - Eze - Played himself into the squad last night, could even start on the left. So postivie on the ball and always looking forward. Get him on the plane Wharton/Gallagher - Wharton was impressive yet again off the bench, I think there is a case to take him and leave Gallagher at home. Gallagher is good in a couple of roles but not great in any of them and has 1 or 3 players ahead of him in every position. If you take him I don't see how he gets game time whereas Wharton looks superb at ball retention and that more traditional holding role to see games out."

"Bowen 2nd half was excellent , best player along with gallagher. Hard to say how good trent is , defence had to do nothing and he got more protection with bowen there than other wide players give so had freedom. Tough choices. Palmer was poor , not sure what everyone saw in Eze he was okay looked a bit nervous to me."

So are Shaw and Maguire going to play against Iceland on Friday? Suspect Southgate will still pick them despite not playing for months … since Feb for Shaw? Heard him say Kane will start. So Toney will get maximum 30 minutes (if at all) to press a claim Some very talented players available but unprepared if Kane is injured / unavailable and centre half & left back are uncertain Still say England will only be behind France as likely winners but need to be more bold which I’m not sure Gareth Moyesgate has in him

If Bowen played on the left he'd be ok but he's got to get ahead of saka foden and now palmer so I don't fancy him going.

"Bowen will be cut even though he has been decent in his last few games for England. He does not play for a media darling club. He is a team player with all round strengths but I reckon Grealish, Palmer get the nod even though Grealish has hardly played. All the reports saying Bowen average and Sky saying Southgate needs better ws an understudy for Saka. If he had scored it would be a different story. We will fail. Kane never shows up in a major tournament and Foden pkayed out of position and besides all that Southgate will pick Maguire and others in a back four that is vulnerable to pace and quick footed players as it has been for the duration of Southgates reign"

If you read the BBC live updates you wouldn't even know Bowen was playing.
