Euro 2024 - Inc Southgate resignation
"We seem to have an England v Bosnia thread but not an actual Euro 2024 thread so here it is So, do we realistically think England can win it? On paper we obviously have a very talented squad but I just don't see us going all the way. For me it's ""same old"" when it comes to England. Breeze the group, favourable draw in last 16 and win then up against far superior opposition in the QFs and out. At best I can see us at the SF stage before being beaten again. Winners for me: France, Portugal, Spain Dark horses: Germany - even though it's a home tournament they've been in a consolidation period, could go close Biggest flops: Scotland - no goals scored Top goalscorer: Mbappe I'm just hoping it's a decent tournament with plenty of decent games that's not ruined by VAR (are they using it?) consolidation period but could go close"

Re: Euro 2024
Ludicrous support from the Turkish fans & they had been playing ok but starting to flounder after giving away that crazy og for 2-0 Portugal looking very useful. Some brilliant players & lots of depth off the bench

Re: Euro 2024
Entertaining one. The Czechs should have won with what they created it but bloody hell almost a crazy finish. That Georgian bloke will have nightmares about that forever.
Re: Euro 2024
"Question: Every time a goal is scored (by any team), the crowd seems to be singing a bit of Seven Nation Army. I haven't heard this being played in the grounds so I was wondering if it was real or being piped in by the broadcasters? Is there anyone out there who can shed any light?"

"Yeh they a bit of a West Ham love in there, showed plenty of snippets of Soucek playing for us with Moyes commenting, a long interview with Soucek, the conference final winner and Moyes dancing in the dressing room afterwards."

Re: Euro 2024
"Looking forward to watching our two Czech mates right now. Got their hands full so far though. Bit of a West Ham themed studio as well. Moyes, Der Hammer and Ellen White. Good bit on Soucek before the game if anyone's interested."

"Fucking hell Sydney he was wearing a sweatband, apparently he wore one before and it attracted so much interest from the press he had ""who cares"" put on the back.. He's right who the fuck cares.."

Re: Euro 2024
"C&p... Maybe try the players who are fit enough for your system then. Watkins. Gordon. Bowen. Wharton/Mainoo... Gareth Southgate has suggested his England team lack the physical levels to execute his gameplan at Euro 2024 while Declan Rice has opened up on the pressure the players are feeling. The mood in the England camp was heavy on introspection and soul-searching as they came to terms with Thursday’s 1-1 draw against Denmark. It was not so much the result, which has kept them in the driving seat to qualify for the last 16 as Group C winners. Rather the collective performance, which was defined by errors on the ball and an absence of aggression without it. The press did not work, the absence of high-intensity sprints glaring, and it was worrying to see how Denmark were able to find spaces. Southgate has made no secret about his fears over the fitness of a clutch of starting players, who have not completed many full games in recent weeks and months. The captain, Harry Kane, is among them. He injured his back towards the end of the domestic season with Bayern Munich and has come through 90 minutes only once since 4 May – in England’s 1-0 win over Serbia in the opening round of group games here."

"Was reading the great Baggio had his home raided by 5 thugs while he was there watching Italy's game against Spain with his family, attacked Baggio and locked them all in a cupboard while they ransacked the joint, a real nasty business that."

Re: Euro 2024
"England not being on 6 points must have definitely thrown Southgate's plans up in the air, now he has to treat Slovenia more seriously and we seem to have arrived at a point where he, or anyone for that matter, knows neither his best team or system. A shambles."

Re: Euro 2024
Liked the story of Depay being dropped to the Man U reserves & Rooney advising to keep his appearance low key. So he arrives in a Rolls Royce wearing a cowboy hat. Wants to be a ‘character’ but needs to concentrate on being better than an average player Rebrov was very good playing with Shevshenko. Without him was average at Tottenham & worse with us. France can hold Mbappe back for now You’d expect they will smash Poland and finish top but teams who have qualified (ie 4 pts) may look to the path ahead & decide they want to finish in a different spot Imagine teams with 6 will look at giving the rest of the squad a game

"Looks like the France group will go down to GD now as far as who wins it, and with France playing an already eliminated side in Poland you'd have to fancy them now, meaning England play them in the SF if we manage to get our act together."

Re: Euro 2024
"What the fuck was that Dutch twat and ManU flop Deepay doing wearing that horrendous white headband with ""10"" on the front and ""Who cares"" on the back. What an attention seeking whore of a cockhead! Frogs without Mbappe are not the same side, reckon just his presence boosts the whole side’s confidence. And isn’t the Ukraine manager that Rebrov bloke we bought off Spurs? Remember he was shit……seems a better manager than player, Spurs got stung with that one but why we stupidly thought we could get a player out of him was delusional. LOL"

"Shame the Dutch goal was disallowed by Stuart fucking Arwell, can’t for the life of me see why. As said unless a huge improvement happens we ain’t got a prayer, look shot to pieces already."

Re: Euro 2024
"It’s really sad to know we could be playing something like this with the players we have. We play scared with far too many deep or behind the ball. Look at the relative position of kante compared to his defenders vs Rice. So much more space between the players stretching the pitch. They are so much more fluid as well. Foden could be doing what Griezmann is doing, easily."

In the first 4-mins both the Dutch and French have served up more than England in the whole of their game yesterday.

TBF there's been some fantastic Polish players in recent years. Albeit they've been playing for Germany.

Re: Euro 2024
"Shocking how the Poles collapsed after getting back into the game. Lewandowski came on at 1-1 in the 60th minute, got booked like a fool and the Austrians just mulleried them out of it. Still better than watching Southgate’s England, mind you."

Re: Euro 2024
Lovely dummy by Arnautovic to set up the second & then puts away the pen with ease for 3-1 Austrians far superior in the second half & could have added another couple Poles will have to beat France to have any chance to be a third place qualifier No chance
