He extended his arm to create a bigger blocking target. Can agree to disagree but dont think thats part of a normal running motion. One of the few positives of VAR is that it does pick up things that are blocked from the refs view (only the lino if he was up with play would have had the correct angle) & most players besides the crosser probably didnt have the best view either. Personally thought the Germany headed goal should have stood and the blocking call was a bit soft. That said the only referees Ive really noticed have been the English ones. Everyone else has just got on with it and been pleasingly anonymous

There seems to be a lot of Moyesball being played at this tournament, especially by some of the ‘smaller’ teams who are happy not to have the ball and just defend deep. The likes of Austria, Georgia and Switzerland have been refreshing. Italy were poor from minute 1 of game 1 and never looked like they were comfortable with the set-up.
