Euro 2024 - Inc Southgate resignation

Post Phall Throw »

"We seem to have an England v Bosnia thread but not an actual Euro 2024 thread so here it is So, do we realistically think England can win it? On paper we obviously have a very talented squad but I just don't see us going all the way. For me it's ""same old"" when it comes to England. Breeze the group, favourable draw in last 16 and win then up against far superior opposition in the QFs and out. At best I can see us at the SF stage before being beaten again. Winners for me: France, Portugal, Spain Dark horses: Germany - even though it's a home tournament they've been in a consolidation period, could go close Biggest flops: Scotland - no goals scored Top goalscorer: Mbappe I'm just hoping it's a decent tournament with plenty of decent games that's not ruined by VAR (are they using it?) consolidation period but could go close"

That’s what an international football game should be Both teams giving absolutely everything and the ref letting them get on with it Brilliant stuff Turkey will probably run out of players & Austria couldn’t have done any more

"Gotta say the Referee was brilliant in that, just told them all to get up and play on. And that's got to be one of the best saves i've ever seen at the end, world class."

Very impressed by both sides. Turkey are so dangerous in attack and Austria’s midfield is a joy to behold. Makes for a great game.

"I always enjoy these tournaments because of the crowds, all the colour, atmosphere, games on every day, tv and radio punditry, seeing players you don't see that often etc, but I'm not sure there have been that many exciting games, individual performances and great goals? Admittedly I've not seen a whole load live due to time differences."

"The quality of football has largely been shit, none of the ""stars"" have turned up yet, teams have qualified from the group stage in 3rd place without winning a game, less goals per game than most other Euros, and we've (England) absolutely stunk the place out. Not much enjoyment there for me."

I'm also enjoying the tournament- barring England's games... It's great so many of the 'minnows' except Scotland have been putting on really strong performances and running the bigger sides very close.

"Plenty of examples of countries who have been poor in tournaments then got their shit together to win quarter finals, semis & finals If England do that no one will care. Least of all Lord Southgate of Croydon They are capable given the obvious changes he could make Unfortunately he is unlikely to make them before his luck runs out"

"Drivel. Kudus, Bowen, Paqueta, Alvarez, even JWP and Antonio. We were more than capable of playing better and more entertaining tactics. As we actually proved on the few occasions he let them play (Wolves, Freiburg)."

"zico the difference is Moyes didn't have the same luxury of having the best squad like Southgate He has player of the year from Spain, Germany and Premiership plus loads of talented attacking players yet still far too cautious and negative Moyes did his best with what he had"
