Euro 2024 - Inc Southgate resignation

Post Phall Throw »

"We seem to have an England v Bosnia thread but not an actual Euro 2024 thread so here it is So, do we realistically think England can win it? On paper we obviously have a very talented squad but I just don't see us going all the way. For me it's ""same old"" when it comes to England. Breeze the group, favourable draw in last 16 and win then up against far superior opposition in the QFs and out. At best I can see us at the SF stage before being beaten again. Winners for me: France, Portugal, Spain Dark horses: Germany - even though it's a home tournament they've been in a consolidation period, could go close Biggest flops: Scotland - no goals scored Top goalscorer: Mbappe I'm just hoping it's a decent tournament with plenty of decent games that's not ruined by VAR (are they using it?) consolidation period but could go close"

"Russ of the BML says. “Southgate is a likeable man” What a soppy fucker you must be if you think he’s likeable. What’s to like? He’s the most simpering, feeble minded woke supporting twat in football. He doesn’t deserve the praise he gets from some quarters and is probably the luckiest ever manager of England"

This is the de facto final being played out here. Either of these beat England or the Neds. France probably a better match up for England but I can't bring myself to want those fucking overrated cunts to win.

"Just wow. Wow the goal from Yamal. Wow the touch from Danny Olmo. Spain are just so good with the ball, the movement & football nous is something else. I really hope this is the type of approach Lopetegui is planning."

Southgate has attributed England's dogshit performances at the beginning of the tournament to the weight of expectation and thinks they've now changed their mindset despite also being creamy dog turd flavoured against Switzerland too. Southgate is a hopeless ugly tedious fucking speng and I'm sick of seeing his stupid fucking div face spouting the most generic playbook cardboard fucking cock wash in every press conference. That man is a national embarrassment and should just fuck the fuck off the try hard out of his depth woke cսnt.

Lest we forget. We have to thank Sir Trevor and his efforts at St Georges Park for the success of England players over the last 10 years or so since he stepped down.

"Anon - £300 is juet for what he caught out for, not for all the times he's highly likely to have done it. He'd be a mad man to risk putting in to question his Reffing again on 1 of the biggest stages with millions of eyeballs on him, regardless of a hypothetical one-off sizeable amount now. It just ain't happening and I for one ain't gonna be para about him potentially fixing Wednesdays Euros Semi-Final but others are more than welcome to worry about it."

"Massive Attack He risked his career for a massive bung of....£300 Euros, not sure he's too fussy about his reputation. Adding a couple of zeros and I'm sure he'd be interested. Interesting he's still banned from the top games in Germany, he's not even allowed to enter the stadiums. Manuel, no one's ""blaming the ref"" for anything yet you silly tart, it's a discussion board in case you haven't noticed and it's a valid talking point"

"I'm not concerned about the bung taking Ref, the world's spotlight is on him so he'll be on his very best behaviour, so I'm sure he'll leave all Wednesday bets to those currently in hiding on Paqueta Island. I also trust Bellingham to behave himself after getting his knuckles wrapped over his gesture recently. What we will need to be vigilant about is Hollland players purposely targeting Bellingham to see if they can get a bad reaction out of him which he will have to contend with. I'm sure Southgate's made him fully aware before the game Koeman will instruct his players to wind him up and Bellingham will rise above it letting his football do all the talking Wednesday. Our disciplinary in this Tournament avoiding costly red and yellow cards thus far has been excellent and don't see that changing."

"Don't get why the ref's aren't assessed and a league table formed based on their games in the tournament top 2 get the semi finals top dog gets the final not hard is it.......giving a bloke done for corruption a semi final is bit unbelievable. Then you tie in his history with Bellingham, just give it to someone else to avoid any sort of noise over it. Uefa are thick as shit"

"On The Ball - I have no idea he phoned me last night from work just to let me know he wasn't going to be here when he woke up as had bought a ticket and on a 7.30 am flight to Cologne, I did ask him if he was sure it was real. Said buying from a mate and wouldn't pay him unless he got in.. But communication isn't his thing or listening for that matter. I'm actually surprised he told me, the little fucker went on holiday last time while me and the Mrs were away and didn't tell his brother who thought he'd gone missing."

Utterly extraordinary that this ref with his history is getting big games like our Europa semi & THIS semi Plenty of excellent refs so far in the tournament Obviously Taylor & Oliver can’t do an England game but neither should be in contention for the semis & final

"H&P, The EUROs final narrative will be about 'star players' - Mbappe v Kane, Mbappe v Bellingham, Yamal v Bellingham etc. Do you think they want a Mbappe v Gakpo final? Asian, African & American markets would struggle to name half a dozen Dutch players. As long as the England fans don't burn down Dortmund in the pre-match festivities Kane will be leading England onto the Olympiastadion on Sunday evening."

A Spain vs Holland final will be very interesting from the European history perspective; it might generate a valuable discussion of what manner of political and cultural a beast Europe actually is (the product of an ongoing bourgeois revolution being fought against the old feudal order now so much in ascendant).
