Euro 2024 - Inc Southgate resignation

Post Phall Throw »

"We seem to have an England v Bosnia thread but not an actual Euro 2024 thread so here it is So, do we realistically think England can win it? On paper we obviously have a very talented squad but I just don't see us going all the way. For me it's ""same old"" when it comes to England. Breeze the group, favourable draw in last 16 and win then up against far superior opposition in the QFs and out. At best I can see us at the SF stage before being beaten again. Winners for me: France, Portugal, Spain Dark horses: Germany - even though it's a home tournament they've been in a consolidation period, could go close Biggest flops: Scotland - no goals scored Top goalscorer: Mbappe I'm just hoping it's a decent tournament with plenty of decent games that's not ruined by VAR (are they using it?) consolidation period but could go close"

Onsideman I cant help it if Nutstain is right for one time in his entire life... I have to agree with others though that the incident is rarwly given as a penalty but that doesn't mean its not a foul. Its given everytime anywhere else on the pitch... Im struggling to jnderstand why those saying its never a penalty think that its in someway less of a foul in the penalty area compared to anywhere else... can someone please explain that.. its a bit like in rugby with the high tackling and neck rolls a studs up challenge is outlawed due to the danger to the opponent...

"Nutsin: ""Palmer stood out"" 10 minutes on the pitch. Shanked his one chance badly, played a decent ball to Watkins who turned it into an assist Yeah... ?üôÑ"

"English player ratings would be as follows. Saka and Palmer the two players who stood out the most. Foden is improving but still disappointing. Pickford has been ok, thought he could have done better with the Dutch goal. I’d like to see more Toney."

"It was never a penalty, for the same reason Kalvin Phillips clearing a ball in his own area - that Anthony Gordon managed to just get in the way of - should never have been given. It was just a collision from a follow through from a natural action by both players. Glad we are in the final from it though as others have pointed out bad luck we have suffered before. We really have shithoused our way through to the final though, and unless Southgate goes totally against the norm and sets them up to attack, we’re going to need some more fortunate decisions to shithouse our way to win it ."

Thinking it shouldn't have been given but being glad it was isn't mutually exclusive despite what some idiots on here are implying

"I c&p exactly what McCoist said during commentary after the “foul”. He said it’s never a pen. If he said what you claim he said (I’m giving you the benefit of the doubt) then it’s clear what he means. Given that you think the fellas studs went into Kane’s thigh, I’m not convinced you even watched it. If you think it’s a penalty then you’ve clearly never played the game. You deserve to be sat with Nutsin, Pickle and all the other benders who couldn’t play football. Have a look at the company you’re keeping and consider if you might be wrong on this one."

We have been on the end of some wrong decisions over the years so it's good to see us.getting the rub of the green for a change. I've always thought that at some point we will get that luck and blunder our way through to lift a trophy.. Having said that you still have to qualify and win your groups to put yourself in with a chance and also have the players with the ability to get you past the opposition in front of you . With the experience in the squad from the last euro finals we have an outstanding chance to get over the line.

"goose 8:08 Thu Jul 11 'McCoist's point was that once he goes to the monitor it will 99.9% of the time be given. As you well know.' That's interesting. A couple of minutes ago you claimed he never said it. Now, you not only suddenly remember he did say it, but have interpreted it in a way not in accordance with his actual words. 'Go and sit on the bench with Nutsin and Pickle and the gays who dont play football.' That is just about the faggiest acceptance that you have your head up your arse that I've seen in a while. Probably since your last effort."

"Does anyone really give a flying fuck whether it was a penalty or not?? Ref pointed to the centre spot and we move on. 1-1. I know that it feels slightly fucking weird, that other England supporters are SO upset that we managed to get a decision that went our way for a change. Fuckin move on!"

"All this is doing is backing up my thoughts on how fucking shit VAR is. That's never given as a pen in real time, and barely anyone would be talking about it today if VAR wasn't around. Even with VAR you get differing opinions on if it was as foul or not. VAR is so fucking shit. *waves at Nutsin*"

"Only person i see using the word astonished is Lee Dixon: ‘I would be astonished if this was given,’ ex-Arsenal and England full-back Dixon said on first viewing. even ITV's very own rules expert woman said it wasnt a pen. as well as Carragher and Neville."

I think Oliver went to the screen in a Premier league game and rejected the VAR advice that he should give a pen Cant recall another. Once they go to the screen its seemingly done
