Euro 2024 - Inc Southgate resignation
"We seem to have an England v Bosnia thread but not an actual Euro 2024 thread so here it is So, do we realistically think England can win it? On paper we obviously have a very talented squad but I just don't see us going all the way. For me it's ""same old"" when it comes to England. Breeze the group, favourable draw in last 16 and win then up against far superior opposition in the QFs and out. At best I can see us at the SF stage before being beaten again. Winners for me: France, Portugal, Spain Dark horses: Germany - even though it's a home tournament they've been in a consolidation period, could go close Biggest flops: Scotland - no goals scored Top goalscorer: Mbappe I'm just hoping it's a decent tournament with plenty of decent games that's not ruined by VAR (are they using it?) consolidation period but could go close"

Re: Euro 2024
Spain are quicker and better to watch than England. But they have a few weaknesses that Southgate has probably spotted. It might well go to penalties so be prepared for shitting in all the excitement.

Re: Euro 2024
"very confident for tomorrow. I think france would have been a much worse match up. saka will roast the hair bear LB, and I don't particularly rate their CBs. where I think we could be exposed is down their right hand side with yamal and the real madrid RB. for that reason, I think shaw should start. rodri's superb, but I think declan and mainoo are a great partnership and i think rice can pick up olmo. despite the club's he's been at, ive never really rated morata, and the threat of bellingham/foden should stop ruiz regularly getting forward and dictating play. I'd love to start toney or watkins but kane isn't getting dropped now, so I hope he attempts to stay higher up the pitch and finally has his good game. 2-0 win"
Re: Euro 2024
Left 5am this morning and now 2 hours outside Berlin. Bit of a drive. It will be worth it.

Re: Euro 2024
"Leroy To be fair to Southgate, since the Slovakia game he has changed the way we play by ditching the faltering disconnected 4231 formation for a more fluid 3421 formation. It finally solved the conundrum I personally wanted to see happen which was both Foden and Bellingham played centrally and a lot closer to the action in the middle. That was an inspired unusual formation change as it's not a common formation Teams use. It was brave to change an already solid back 4 for a back 3 which has holes in it if not played correctly. And it's worked well in both the last 2 matches against Netherlands and Switzerland. No one was calling for a 3421 formation and that's all down to Southgate. Not to forget he also made some big calls to drop Foden and Kane for Palmer and Watkins to get us to the Final. So when he gets it wrong he does deserve the criticism, but when he gets it right like the above, he deserves all the credit and praise."
Re: Euro 2024

"OTB, hope you have a great time mate, enjoy. Not to be too doom laden here, but yet again the country goes mental after playing absolute shite football, only to be schooled by a better team We've been here before, which would make Southgate a serial loser We can all see how we should play, but no, he persists with his way I hope we win, I fear we will lose"

"Have we finally stopped talking about the penalty and switched to wishing WHO's very own Alan Whicker a great time? Will be immense being out there though, as for the outcome we can talk it to death but we'll just have to wait and see, I don't even know if it's better to score first or not.."

Re: Euro 2024
The pressure is on Spain after cruising through as everyones favourites since the group stages Thought Germany were very unlucky against them & probably should have edged it Spain struggled against the big centre forward Fulkrug who missed some half chances I actually think England will win on a 'name on the trophy' basis. More likely if Southgate picks the right team with Shaw instead of Trippier and if he uses Toney in light of the above on a horses for courses thought. Of course Kane will start but needs an early change if he wants drop into midfield Almost no chance we will see the last minute Euro trophy winner in Bowen. Shame

Re: Euro 2024
fraser - oh dear! That's the disruption I mentioned - weather seems to have led to a few cancellations. My flight is still on time - fingers crossed and all that. I'd suggest that you remind him of his rights under EU261 laws but from what you said I suspect he won't pay attention!

Re: Euro 2024
"Cheers chaps! This is our easiest route so far - every other game has involved long train rides after flying somewhere else (and a ferry with a minibus for Switzerland). Three of us booked Berlin direct last August, just in case. Others are on their way to Hamburg and Prague. Tickets were so cheap because they're Fans First - those with most loyalty points. It's been cheap all tournament, it's great. All those crap home games and wet journeys home from Wembley feel worth it now! We were a little concerned about being down the front (the Olympiastadion has an ACTUAL running track), but luckily we're row 25. Out the door in a minute, just trying to get things ready without the dog realising ;)"
